The Shifting Sands DLC for Soulmask introduces boats and airships, which players can unlock through the game’s tech tree. But first, you’ll need to defeat the Sobek Crocodile boss to access the tech tree. Building these vehicles requires gathering a good number of materials. Once you can finally travel by air, you’ll also need to find a way to fuel your ship’s anti-gravity engine.
How to Build a Boat in Soulmask
First, open your tech tree and unlock the “Basic Ship” option. This will allow you to build your initial boat – a simple Thatch Boat, best suited for short trips across small bodies of water. To build a more substantial, customizable ship, you’ll need to purchase the “Shipbuilding Technique” node. This unlocks the ability to create Small Wooden Boats and all the necessary components to make them seaworthy.
You construct the Small Wooden Boat and its components at a Building Workbench. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Small Wooden Boat
- Small Wooden Boat Stern Rudder
- Small Speed Sail
- Small Airship Helm
You’ll need wood, rope, and animal hides, so gather plenty of these resources. Having your people collect them will make things much simpler for you.
Attach the rudder, sails, and steering wheel to your Small Wooden Boat frame to get it ready for sailing. You can build on your boat using any building materials, but we suggest starting with Wooden Deck Flooring. These tiles are small and easy to work with, which is helpful since the Small Wooden Boat doesn’t have a lot of building space.
How to Build Airships in Soulmask
Okay, so if you’re trying to build an airship, it’s a bit of a process. First, you gotta unlock the Airship Technique in your tech tree. But hold up – before you can do that, you need to take down the Sobek Crocodile boss. It’s at the pyramid in the Barren Sandland. Trust me, it’s a tough fight, so make sure you’ve got at least Bronze level gear. And bring some tribesmen to help! They’ll probably fall in battle, but you can always get more or revive them. Just make sure they’re well-equipped so they have a fighting chance!
After defeating the large crocodile, you’ll unlock the Airship Technique. Don’t forget to skin the Sobek Crocodile before you leave the area – you’ll get keys from it that open the door to the pyramid nearby.
Go to the pyramid and explore inside to discover treasure chests and a terminal used to unlock and improve your masks. You’ll probably find airship parts and Power Crystals – used as fuel – inside one of the chests.
You’ll need to reach Awareness level 30 to learn Airship Technique. But finding airship parts doesn’t require you to have learned the technique first – you can use them right away.
One of the best things about smaller airship components is that they’re compatible with Small Wooden Boats, allowing you to transform them into flying airships. Here’s what you need to install to get any small boat airborne:
- Marine Anti-Gravity Skid (S)
- Small Wings
- Small Anti-Gravity Engine
Once everything is set up, power the anti-gravity engine with Power Crystals and you’ll be ready to fly. Steer your ship using the helm, and use the Jump/Crouch buttons to go up or down. Each Power Crystal will give you around 12 hours of flight time. You can find more crystals by exploring the world and searching places like airship camps and ruins.
