How to Get Bulbasaur, Charmander, & Squirtle Early in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*, you can find Raikou, Entei, and Suicune in the Wild Zone 20, but you won’t be able to reach this area until after you’ve finished the main story and seen the credits.

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, you can obtain the classic starter Pokemon – Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur – much earlier in the game, though you’ll only be able to choose one. Here’s how to get one from Mable.

How to Get a Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur Early in Pokemon Legends Z-A

A Call from Mable

It’s unclear exactly how to start Mable’s 022 Side Mission, but we received a call from her after healing our Pokémon at a Pokémon Center, and we had already finished nine other Side Missions.

We were working on our eighth major quest – getting to Rank V. Some players mistakenly believe you need to be Rank F to start it, but that’s incorrect. If you haven’t received the quest yet, it might be because your Research Rank with Mable isn’t high enough.

When you receive the call to begin the Side Mission, simply fast travel to the Pokemon Research Lab, located in the southern part of the city near Wild Zone 1. Head inside and take the elevator to the top floor to speak with Mable. She’ll allow you to pick one of the original Kanto starter Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.

If you visit Mable and choose a starter Pokémon, you’ll receive 1000 Poke Dollars, three Tiny Exp. Candies, and two Small Exp. Candies as a thank you.

How to Mega Evolve Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Hey, so I found this awesome shop called The Stone Emporium. It’s just northwest of Wild Zone 1 on Vernal Avenue, and it’s gonna be *the* place to get evolution stones for my Pokémon. They even said they’re planning to sell Mega Stones later on, which is incredible! I’m definitely checking it out regularly.

Later in the game, you’ll be able to buy Mega Stones to evolve Charizard, but they’ll be quite expensive. You’ll earn the Venusaurite through a special battle during the main story.
