Pokémon Legends: Z-A lets you collect hundreds of Pokémon, including many classic favorites. If you’re hoping to catch Bulbasaur, here’s everything you need to know.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings back Mega Evolution, a popular feature from past games! This installment will even introduce entirely new Mega Evolutions, and includes many beloved Pokémon like Bulbasaur.
Like many Pokémon games, finding a Bulbasaur in Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires a tough choice and a lot of effort. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.
How to Get Bulbasaur in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
You can receive Bulbasaur as a gift early in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but you’ll have to make a difficult choice to obtain it.
Once you’ve explored Lumiose City and completed a few of Mable’s research assignments, she’ll ask you to return to her office to make an important choice.
As soon as you get there, you’ll find Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle ready and waiting. This sparks a question Mable asks – one the Pokémon community has debated for thirty years: Which Pokémon should you choose?
You can only pick one of the original three Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle – at the start, and that Pokémon will be ‘Shiny Locked,’ meaning you can’t find a naturally shiny version of it during that initial choice. However, you’ll still have opportunities to catch shiny versions of all three Pokémon later in the game. If you don’t choose Bulbasaur initially, you’ll be able to catch it later on as well.
Where to Catch Bulbasaur in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
You can find Bulbasaur in Wild Zone 20 within Lumiose City, but this area doesn’t become accessible until you’ve progressed quite far into Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
This special Wild Zone becomes available after you finish the main story. Specifically, you’ll unlock it by completing Main Mission 38, “The Future of Lumiose City,” which is a bonus mission that appears after the main campaign is done.
Similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, finishing the main story in Pokémon Legends: Z-A isn’t the end of the game. There’s still plenty to do afterward, and the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC will add even more content. Plus, some Pokémon, like Bulbasaur, can only be caught after you’ve completed the story.
