In the realm of Eternal Strands, I found myself coming face-to-face with the colossal Ashpeak Drake for the first time, and what a sight it was! Although the one glimpsed during the prologue wasn’t designed to be defeated, the subsequent drakes hidden within The Veil are fair game – just like any other formidable creature in this captivating world.
Tackling an Ashpeak Drake might initially appear daunting, but much like mastering the Ark of the Stricken Earth within Eternal Strands, it can surprisingly be managed with the right approach. Here’s a guide on how to conquer this monster and collect the Drake’s Breath Strand as a reward.
Eternal Strands Ashpeak Drake Boss
In Dredger’s Mire, you may find the second Ashpeak Drake, but it’s possible that other parts of the game could also host this boss. Therefore, remember to review the information displayed in the window before leaving the Weaveband’s base via teleportation.
Ashpeak Drakes inflict both Physical and Fire damage. While many of their attacks can be blocked, the key thing to watch out for is their flamethrower-like ability to ignite things. When it begins spewing flames, it’s best to retreat and guide it towards another location.
In drought-like weather, fires become significantly riskier as objects and surroundings catch fire more quickly and the blaze can swiftly expand across a larger region. It’s advisable to refrain from engaging Fire-type adversaries during drought periods.
Weakspots
The optimal strategy for defeating Ashpeak Drakes is not by climbing them, but rather by targeting their vulnerable body parts such as horns, spines, wings, and tail during combat. By focusing your attacks on these areas, you can weaken the drake, possibly obtaining rare items like Drake Scales in the process. Additionally, attacking from atop a drake allows you to inflict damage even while it’s airborne.
.
You can identify if a drake’s body has been injured by observing cracks that form on its parts. The wings will show signs of wear and tear, even destruction, when they sustain sufficient damage. Whenever possible, target the horns, as they appear to offer the best chance of obtaining rare materials.
In the game “Eternal Strands”, you can strategically employ the physics system as an offensive tool. By hurling substantial items towards the drake, you’ll inflict significant harm. Additionally, you can create an Ice Wall to obstruct the drake’s mouth, preventing it from launching fire attacks.
How to Get the Drake’s Breath Strand
For the very first time defeating an Ashpeak Drake will grant you the Drake’s Inferno Talisman, a magical power that allows you to summon flames in a forward-facing cone to incinerate objects. To elevate this Talisman, you must engage in combat with an Ashpeak Drake once more.
As a fanatic of drakes, I’ve discovered that vanquishing another drake isn’t enough. Instead, what you require is to obtain a Locus Point from it. In order to achieve this, engage in combat with an Ashpeak Drake as usual. Over the course of battle, a radiant spot will manifest on its back. Scaling the drake and reaching that shining area, followed by pressing the button on your screen to initiate the harvest, is the key. The drake will perish at the conclusion of this procedure, rewarding you with another Drake’s Breath Strand.
When the drake is airborne, you’ll notice a luminous area called the Harvest spot. Be sure to hop on it before the drake ascends again.
