Tyrunt is a Rock and Dragon-type Pokémon from Pokemon Legends: Z-A that can evolve into Tyrantrum, a very powerful attacker. You can only obtain Tyrunt by reviving its fossil, and this feature isn’t available until you progress through the main story of the game.
To get the powerful Tyrantrum, you’ll first need to revive Tyrunt from a fossil, and then fulfill specific requirements to evolve it. This guide will walk you through both steps – restoring Tyrunt and then evolving it into its final form.
How to Get Tyrunt in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Tyrunt Fossil Location
I just found out how to get it! You can restore the Jaw Fossil at the Lab on the second floor of the Pokemon Research Lab in Lumiose City – it’s down in the southern part of town. That’s how you get it in Pokemon Legends: Z-A!
You can buy the Jaw Fossil at the Stone Emporium for 20,000 Poke Dollars. The shop is located on Vernal Avenue, right south of the Pokemon Center (shown in the image above).
To unlock the Fossil Restoration feature in PLZA, you first need to complete the side mission “Restored from a Fossil” at the Pokemon Research Lab. This side mission becomes available once you finish Main Mission 10, “The Secrets of Mega Evolution,” and achieve Ranked F by winning a Z-A Royale Promotion Match against Vinnie.
In Side Mission 27, a researcher on the second floor of the Laboratory offers players 20,000 Poke Dollars to buy a fossil from the Stone Emporium. You can purchase either the Jaw Fossil or the Sail Fossil. After you buy one and the researcher restores it, they’ll give you the revived ancient Pokémon as a free reward.
If you want to revive more Fossil Pokémon, you’ll need to buy the corresponding fossil at the Stone Emporium and then take it to the researcher on the second floor of the Pokémon Research Lab.
How to Evolve Tyrunt in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Tyrunt Evolution Level
Espeon can evolve from Eevee at level 39 when it’s daytime. You can change between day and night by resting on a bench in Lumiose City or by sleeping in your bed at Hotel AZ.
To evolve Tyrunt into Tyrantrum, make sure it’s level 39 or higher and it’s daytime in the game. Then, put Tyrunt in your active party. A notification will appear on its portrait when you pause the game. Select Tyrunt and press the A button, then choose “Evolve” to complete the evolution.
To level up Tyrunt to 39 quickly, you can either use EXP. Candies and Rare Candies, or have it hold a Lucky Egg. A Lucky Egg will make it earn twice as much experience from battles.
