How to Get Fire Back to the Chalet in Luigi’s Mansion 2

How to Get Fire Back to the Chalet in Luigi's Mansion 2

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent exploring haunted mansions and solving puzzles, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I approach Luigi’s Mansion 2’s Chalet. The warmth of the fireplace has always been a welcoming sight, providing relief from the bone-chilling cold outside. But, oh dear, what a disappointment it was to find that open window and the freezing temperatures it brought in during my latest playthrough!

Upon initiating their adventure in Luigi’s Mansion 2, newcomers will initially gain access to the manor through the inviting Chalet. This cozy room is further enhanced by a crackling fireplace that keeps it snug and comfortable. However, during the D-3: Across the Chasm event, an oversight occurred; the upper window in the Chalet was left unattended, allowing cold winds to enter and extinguish the chandelier’s candles. In turn, snowfall ensued, resulting in the elevator beneath the polar bear rug being frozen solid.

In Luigi’s Mansion 2, as a gamer, I’ll walk you through the process of rekindling the fire in the Chalet and restoring its cozy warmth. First, we need to head back down into the Secret Mine. Once there, keep an eye out for the gondola access – that’s where our adventure begins!

How to Restore the Fire in the Chalet

Go to the upper level in the Chalet by accessing the fireplace and engaging with it as gamers do. Upon reaching the upper level, kindly remember to shut the window using the Poltergust.

As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: I approach the fireplace and grab hold of the wheel with my Poltergust. I give it a good spin, and the chandelier above begins to move. I need to lift it higher until it connects with the other chandelier, which triggers its candles to ignite. Once that’s done, I carefully lower the chandelier back down and use it to melt the ice block in front of the elevator, clearing my path forward.

If you want to open the elevator door, make sure to vacuum up any remaining snow on the floor first.

How to Find the Gondola Access

After riding the elevator down in Chalet, players will end up at the Airway station. The gondola is situated in Terminal B1, so they will need to pass through Basin, Drift Hall, and ultimately, Prospector’s Crossing to get there.

As a gamer, I come across a busted mirror in the Terminal that prevents me from reaching the gondola. To fix this issue, I’ll need to use my trusty Poltergust 5000 and its Strobulb feature. By carefully setting off the bombs hidden behind the mirror with the Strobulb, I can gradually break it down piece by piece until it shatters completely, granting me access to the gondola.

Unfortunately, after completing this task, Luigi will encounter a problem as three spectral figures emerge and attach chains to the gondola entrance, preventing it from moving. To rid the gondola of these paranormal barriers, players must locate and defeat each ghost that has crystallized and secured the chains. Here’s where you can find them:

  • Yellow chain: Basin (F1)
  • Red chain: Chalet (B1)
  • Green chain: Smuggler’s Hideout (B2)

After we’ve rounded up all the ghosts, the shackles will vanish, allowing players to board the gondola.
