How to Get Flawless Timber in Crimson Desert

As you progress in Crimson Desert, you’ll need Flawless Timber to craft powerful late-game items. Don’t mistake it for Fine Timber – Flawless Timber is the key material for advanced crafting. Learn how to obtain it below.

To obtain Flawless Timber, you must chop down trees using Olvald’s Logging Axe. You can craft this axe using a recipe discovered within the Longbranch Shade Hideout in Pailune, but you’ll also need to gather some materials. See the guide below for a complete list of what you need.

How to Get the Olvald’s Logging Axe Recipe in Crimson Desert

  • Head north of the “N” in Pailune to Longbranch Shade Hideout.
  • You’ll find a tree with a locked door, and you can open the door with a Key (Keys can be purchased from Back Alley Shops, which we have a guide on here).
  • Head down the spiral stairs inside the tree to find Olvald’s Logging Axe Blueprint on a desk.
  • Open your inventory after picking up Olvald’s Logging Axe Blueprint to open the book, where you can then look down at the pages and press L1/LB to learn the recipe.

You can now make Olvald’s Logging Axe at a blacksmith, but it requires a lot of materials. Here’s a guide to help you collect everything you need.

How to Craft the Olvald’s Logging Axe in Crimson Desert

The Olvald’s Logging Axe can now be crafted at any Smithy (blacksmith) for the following resources:

Material How to Get
Fine Timber x20 Fine Timber can be found by destroying trees with an Axe or with Force Palm.
Iron Ore x30 Iron Ore can be mined from veins across the mountains or purchased from Equipment Shops in each major region.
Sturdy Hide x10 Sturdy Hide is either obtained from Tannery Shops or from killing and skinning larger animals in the wild.
Ivory x15 Ivory can be extracted by killing and skinning rhinos, which are found mostly in the western region of Tashkalp in the Crimson Desert.
Rubber x5 Rubber is extracted from trees around Beardtree Gorge with Healing Force Palm (Hold R3 and aim with the Left Stick).

Getting Rubber is a bit trickier than finding other materials, so we’ve included a guide below to show you where to find it and how to collect it from trees.

How to Get Rubber in Crimson Desert

  • Rubber can be found in the larger trees in Beardtree Hills, on the northeast coast of Delesyia, and they’re noted for their hanging vines.
  • Perform Healing Force Palm (Hold R3 and aim with the Left Stick) over each side of the tree to make sap begin to glow and pour from the tree.
  • Return in 3 in-game days, and you can now collect the Rubber.

You can also quickly collect Rubber from these trees using the Magic Scythe, but you’ll first need to finish the “Secret Tools of Life – Pororin Research” quest in Pororin (The Unreachable Village). Then, send an Engineer Greymane Comrade on a Dispatch Mission to Florindale.
