How to Beat Primal Groudon in Pokemon Legends Z-A – Mega Dimension

The battle with Groudon happens in two stages. First, you’ll fight a level 200 Groudon that uses strong Ground-type attacks and has a special, boosted form called Rogue Mega Evolution. After that, you’ll face Primal Groudon, also at level 200. Here’s a look at what to expect in each stage:

  1. Groudon: A Ground-type Legendary, uses lots of Physical Type moves from the Ground-type, so bring a Water-type Pokemon to the fight. with Aqua Jet and Liquidation does the trick. Watch out for its charge attack, cancel it fast, or it will shower ground blasts all around the arena.
  2. Primal Groudon: Groudon recovers all its HP and becomes a Ground/Fire-type, and that means a x4 Weakness to Water-type moves. Players can Mega Evolve Feraligatr to empower its moves, or if they have Mega Tatsugiri, they can spam Waterfall all the time and remain as far away as possible. Primal Groudon unleashes a wide area destruction attack, which explodes the arena floor section by section (following a triangle pattern). Dodge right before the explosion to negate damage to the Trainer.

During the first stage, it’s best to keep your distance from the enemy. Getting too close will cause it to use a powerful Fire Blast attack that deals significant damage.

In the second phase, Primal Groudon changes tactics. It will target distant attackers with Precipice Blades, and after building up energy, it will release a powerful, arena-wide attack (refer to the Primal Groudon Phase 2 section for details).

Okay, so I’ve noticed something with Groudon and Primal Groudon – because they’re so huge, it can be really annoying trying to grab those Mega Orbs and Hyperspace Orbs when they drop. Seriously, their body often gets in the way and covers where they land, making them hard to collect! My tip? Just wait for Groudon to move a little, or try to get it to change position, and then quickly scoop them up. That way you can fill your Mega Energy bar and get your Hyperspace Time (Calories) back!

Okay, so once you finally take down this big boss, you can actually catch Groudon! You’ll also get the Red Orb, which is key to unlocking its Primal Reversion. It’s a lot like Mega Evolution – you need to collect some special energy, and then just press the right stick (R) to turn Groudon into its super powerful Primal Form. It’s kinda like it’s *deevolving, but in a good way!

Primal Groudon Stats, Best Moveset, EV Spread, Nature & Strategy

Primal Groudon is among the five most powerful Pokémon available in Legends Z-A. With a massive base stat total of 770, it boasts an incredibly high Physical Attack stat of 180 – one of the highest in the entire Pokémon world. While it’s a bit slow, that doesn’t matter much when you’re such a formidable force.

Primal Groudon is incredibly powerful and can defeat almost any opponent. It’s extremely durable, with high Defense and Special Attack, meaning it can withstand attacks and deliver devastating blows. Whether an opponent tries to hide or fight head-on, Primal Groudon will find a way to win.

While its Special Defense is relatively low (90), this incredibly powerful attacker can destroy opponents with moves like Precipice Blades, Heat Crash, Earthquake, and Fissure. Fissure is particularly devastating, dealing a massive 250 damage, though it’s slow to use and has a 20-second cooldown. However, a STAB-boosted Fissure is almost unstoppable, especially against Pokémon weak to Ground-type attacks.

Groudon is a remarkably powerful Pokémon. With a base stat total of 630, it’s among the strongest Legendary Pokémon, and it can learn the most powerful Ground and Fire-type attacks.

Players might also want to teach Groudon Scorching Sands, a powerful move in player-versus-player battles. While it takes a moment to use and leaves Groudon open to attack, it inflicts the Burn status condition, which is especially effective in Pokemon Legends Z-A, making it a worthwhile option to consider.
