In Ghost of Yotei, Gun Parts are essential for fully upgrading all of Atsu’s weapons, both melee and ranged. If you want to become powerful quickly, learning where to find them is a priority.
Gun Parts are items you get later in the game, and normally you can’t get them until you’ve made significant progress in the story. Luckily, there’s a hidden mission that lets you collect them much earlier. It’s easy to overlook, and you can only do it once, so here’s how it works.

How to Get Gun Parts Early in Ghost of Yotei
You’ll mainly find Gun Parts in Oshima Coast, which is the final area in Ghost of Yotei. However, you can’t reach Oshima Coast until you’ve completed a significant portion of the main story. Luckily, there *is* a way to get Gun Parts before you get there.
In the story “The Odachi’s Redemption,” Atsu battles a large group of raiders sent by the Saito Brothers to eliminate the Odachi Master in the Tokachi Range. Many of these enemies use guns, and when defeated, they have a chance to drop Gun Parts. Any Gun Parts you collect will be added to your inventory permanently.
Female warriors with muskets and brutes with cannons drop Gun Parts.
If you select “Restart from Last Checkpoint” in the pause menu, it will bring back the enemies, letting you fight them again to collect more Gun Parts.
You can quickly collect a large number of Gun Parts by repeatedly reloading from the last save point and defeating the same enemies, as long as they’re easy to beat. Just don’t finish off the final enemy each time!
Finishing the “Odachi’s Redemption” quest by defeating the final enemy prevents you from earning more Gun Parts. It’s best to save your game before you do so.
How to Start The Odachi’s Redemption
There are a few requirements to starting The Odachi’s Redemption quest in Ghost of Yotei:
- Unlock the Odachi
- Complete Junpei the Snatcher Bounty
- Complete Inokichi the Hungry Bounty
- Liberate Huranui Mill
- Liberate Marshlands Homestead
Once you’ve finished everything needed to begin, a marker for “The Odachi’s Redemption” quest will show up on your map at Master Yoshida’s Dojo, letting you know you can start playing.
How to Reach Oshima Coast in Ghost of Yotei
If you’ve finished “The Odachi’s Redemption” and don’t want to start over from a much earlier point, you can find Gun Parts at Oshima Coast. However, this area is blocked by Matsumae samurai for most of the game, and you’ll need to progress the story to unlock access.
You will need to complete the following main missions in Ghost of Yotei to unlock Oshima Coast:
- Main Tale: The Oni
- Main Tale: The Kitsune
- Main Tale: The Saito Brothers
After you’ve finished the necessary preparations, Chapter 2, titled ‘The Onryo,’ will start. A quest marker will then appear, showing you the way to Oshima Coast.
