How to Get HM04 Strength in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen
HM04 Strength Location
In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, you can get HM04 Strength by trading the Gold Teeth to the Warden in Fuchsia City. You’ll find the Gold Teeth in Area 3 of the Safari Zone, close to the Secret House where you can obtain HM03 Surf.
Golden Teeth Location
To enter the Safari Zone, you’ll need to pay a 500 fee. Once inside, turn right and walk through the first patch of grass to reach Area 1.
Head right until you see another grassy area, then go up, left, and down through the rocky section. Continue upwards and climb the stairs to reach the higher rock path. Take the stairs up, turn right, and then go down to get back to the ground. From there, circle around the rock path by going up and to the left to enter Area 2 of the Safari Zone.
Okay, so I headed left, then pushed through that grassy area to get onto the rock path. After that, it was a series of turns – left, down, left, and then back up again. I just kept going upwards until the path stopped, then took a right, went up a bit more, and another left to reach the top left corner. From there, it was a straight shot down to get into Area 3.
Here, go down and pick up the Poke Ball lying on the ground to obtain the Gold Teeth.
The house to the left of where you find the Gold Teeth contains HM03 Surf.
Warden Location
After leaving the Safari Zone, head back to Fuchsia City. Look for a house with a mailbox in the southeastern area, right next to the Pokémon Center – this is the home of the Safari Zone Warden. Go inside and speak with him, and he’ll reward you with HM04 Strength for returning his Gold Teeth.
How to Use HM04 Strength to Push Boulders in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen
You can only use the Strength HM outside of battles once you’ve beaten Erika at the Celadon City Gym and received the Rainbow Badge.
In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Strength move lets you push large boulders you find in caves and other locations. Once a Pokémon learns Strength, simply put it in your party and walk up to a boulder, then press the A button to move it.
Okay, so once I’ve done everything needed, a little cutscene will play. Then, I can actually move that big boulder! I just walk into it from the direction I want it to go. The cool part is, after I use my ‘Strength’ ability the first time, I can keep pushing all the rocks around here without having to use the ability again and again. But, if I wander off to a different area, I’ll have to use ‘Strength’ again to get things moving when I come back.
Best HM Slaves for Strength in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
Despite having decent power (80) and accuracy (100%), Strength isn’t usually a good move for your main Pokémon in battle. This is because it’s a Normal-type move, which doesn’t help much against different Pokémon types. As a result, Strength is typically used by Pokémon specifically taught it for utility, rather than for fighting. Here are some of the best Pokémon in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald to use for this purpose:
- Pikachu
- Nidoran
- Psyduck
- Poliwhirl
- Krabby
- Rhydon
- Kangaskhan
