As a seasoned World of Warcraft player with countless hours spent in Azeroth, I can confidently say that obtaining the elusive Invincible mount is no easy feat. I remember the days when Icecrown Citadel was the latest raid, and the Lich King’s icy gaze was a sight to behold.
Few characters in the Warcraft series are as notorious as Arthas Menethil. Originally, he was a noble prince from Lordaeron, a Paladin dedicated to safeguarding his people from harm. However, his selfless desire to protect others tragically led him astray. He found Frostmourne and eventually transformed into the Lich King at the conclusion of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne.
After a long slumber, I found myself awakened as the Lich King, setting off a chain of events that culminated in the second expansion, known as the Wrath of the Lich King. This epic tale would ultimately lead to a showdown with the infamous ruler of the Scourge. Given the grandeur of this character’s story, it was only fitting that there would be some exclusive cosmetics for players brave enough to challenge my formidable powers. Among the raid mounts, none could compare to Arthas’ steadfast companion in life and death – Invincible. If you’re determined to claim the mount of the notorious Lich King himself, here’s how you can get Invincible in World of Warcraft.
How to Get Invincible in World of Warcraft
In Icecrown, Northrend, the mighty Icecrown Citadel – hard to overlook with its dominating presence – is where you’ll find the elusive artifact known as Invincible. Keep in mind that this rare item drops exclusively during Heroic 25-Man difficulty raids, so ensure your settings are correct before venturing inside. Also, be aware that the chances of obtaining Invincible are extremely slim, estimated to be less than one percent.
Some individuals might strike it rich and claim the mount within just a few tries, whereas others might fail to obtain it even after years of participating in the raid. The Icecrown Citadel can be farmed once per week for each character. Having multiple characters lined up outside the raid allows you to run it several times a week, but this approach is more likely to lead to burnout than securing the mount.
Icecrown Citadel Walkthrough
For players unfamiliar with the raid, here are a few things to keep in mind. At Level 50+ you can easily solo Icecrown Citadel even on Heroic 25-Man. There is even a zone wide buff that increases your damage and healing, making it even easier. Just make sure your character is not using Chromie Time, as you will be unable to enter the raid.
As a devoted player, I want to share a crucial tip about the third boss encounter: To save valuable time, you’ll need to approach it in a particular manner. When conversing with Muradin (Alliance) or Saurfang (Horde), swiftly sprint towards one of the cannons and click on it to “enter” it. Then, start rapidly pressing ‘1’ to accumulate Heat, but make sure it doesn’t surpass 97%. If it hits 100%, the cannon will overheat and become unusable for a while.
When the enemy’s warship gets close enough for an attack, press ‘2’ to inflict heavy damage. This should be sufficient to wipe out their ship’s health before the battle starts. Normally, your cannons would freeze up, requiring you to board the enemy ship and eliminate the mage. However, attacking before the fight begins will deal enough damage for the battle to end as it starts, letting you avoid that step altogether.
Before the battle with the ship begins, ensure you disengage from the cannon, because on occasion, the game might malfunction and cause you to plummet down.
Starting from now, carry on with the raid as usual. In the realm of Plagueworks, you’ll find two essential valves that will lead you to Professor Putricide. The first one is located within the chamber housing Rotface, and the second one can be found in the same room where Festergut resides – the other two bosses of Plagueworks.
In the Frost Wing, you’ll find a boss named Valithria Dreamwalker. If your character lacks healing abilities, it might be wiser to bypass this fight. There’s an open door behind her that leads straight to Sindragosa. However, if your character possesses healing spells, you can engage the battle, restore her health completely, and emerge victorious.
Once you’ve conquered each of the three upper wings in Icecrown Citadel, the teleporter nestled within the ice column becomes active. Stepping onto it will instantly transport you to face the Lich King himself. Unlike other battles in Icecrown Citadel, you can’t defeat this boss immediately upon engagement.
When the Lich King’s health drops below 10%, he’ll unleash Fury of Frostmourne. Before it became legacy content, this ability would instantly kill all players. However, reaching this stage in the battle implies victory, even though it might seem like a wipe. The Lich King can only be slain after the subsequent role-play sequence is completed. Upon hearing Terenas Menethil II yell: “Stand tall, champions of the Light!”, you’re free to deliver the finishing blow. If fortune favors you, Invincible’s Reins may appear as a lootable item from the Lich King.
Does Invincible Show Up on the Black Market Auction House?
Frequently, hard-to-find mounts and aesthetic items pop up at the Black Market Auction House, including the highly sought-after “Invincible”. However, remember that this desirable mount can quickly escalate the bidding prices. For instance, a recent auction for Invincible concluded with a bid of more than 7 million gold. So, while you can acquire Invincible through the Black Market Auction House, be prepared for an expensive bidding war if your bid is successful.
