The game’s intricate world design and challenging boss battles keep me coming back for more. However, there are certain aspects of the game that can be quite frustrating, like those pesky acid pools. But fear not, dear fellow adventurer, for I have uncovered the secret to making your journey through Hollowest a tad less treacherous – Isma’s Tear!

In the captivating realm of Hollow Knight, there’s a wealth of secrets to uncover, formidable bosses to conquer, and useful skills that ease movement across each zone. One of the most daunting obstacles players will face during their journey are the acid pools, not just because they’re hazardous, but also extremely inconvenient.

Gathering numerous Mask Shards to endure multiple attacks is certainly beneficial for survival, but acquiring the ability to resist corrosive substances like acid typically makes exploration significantly easier. Here’s a guide on how to obtain Isma’s Tear in Hollow Knight.

How To Get Isma’s Tear

To obtain Isma’s Tear, first, you need to have uncovered the City of Tears. Subsequently, delve into the deepest parts of the Royal Waterways, which can be accessed from this location. In your journey through the City of Tears, you will eventually stumble upon a ground-level latch marked with an indication that a Basic Key is required to unlock it.

In Hollowest, several important locations are scattered, but let’s concentrate on rendering you resistant to acid for now. If you haven’t yet obtained the Desolate Dive skill from defeating the Soul Master boss at the City of Tears summit, I recommend doing so first. This ability is crucial to reach the bench where this guide starts. Once you’ve gained access to the Royal Waterways and are seated on the red circle-marked bench as indicated in the picture above, follow the outlined path. However, prior to embarking on that route, travel to the location marked with a white circle. This area is home to the Dung Defender, defeating him is essential because he guards an area filled with acid, which would otherwise be impassable without his defeat.

After successfully overpowering the Dung Defender, move to the room to your right which is adjacent to the one previously mentioned. There, activate the lever to lower that specific room. Now, you can confidently traverse the path illustrated above to reach Isma’s Tear. Throughout your journey, you will encounter numerous challenges, such as a challenging battle with some winged guards. Once you defeat them, there will be no more barriers. Just descend until you arrive at Isma’s Grove—you’ll find Isma’s Tear in the right corner of that area.

How To Get A Simple Key

In the game ‘Hollow Knight’, Simple Keys are scarce and hard to find as there are merely four of them. One can be discovered in the Ancient Basin, another in the City of Tears, a third is acquired by defeating the Pale Lurker in an isolated region adjacent to the Fool’s Colosseum, and the final one is for sale by Sly in his store in Dirtmouth.

Naturally, the easiest Simple Key to get is the one sold by Sly, as all you have to do, is save up some Geo to get it. That said, it will not come cheap, as Sly will want a whopping 950 Geo to part ways with this useful, yet expensive item. If you’re saving for something else, like the Lumafly Lantern, this might set you back more than you’re comfortable with. But if you want to swim in acid like water, the expense is, unfortunately, necessary.
