How to Get King’s Rock in Pokémon Legends: Z-A—King’s Rock Location, Explained

Pokémon Legends: Z-A features many collectible items, some of which you’ll need to finish filling out your Pokédex. A King’s Rock is a necessary item for evolving one particular Pokémon.

Like many Pokémon, Slowpoke can evolve in two different ways, becoming either Slowbro or Slowking. To get Slowking in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you’ll need a special item called a King’s Rock.

Wondering where to find the King’s Rock to evolve your Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? Here’s everything you need to know about its location.

Where to Find King’s Rock in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can obtain a King’s Rock by finishing a specific Side Mission. This mission requires you to defeat Pokémon that use moves designed to make other Pokémon flinch.

Completing Side Mission 84, “Strike First to Make ‘Em Flinch,” will reward you with a King’s Rock. You’ll find the NPC who starts the mission on the battle platform next to the Quasartico Inc. building – you might remember this place as the site of your fight with Vinnie.

During this challenge, you’ll need to battle and defeat three Pokémon: Sharpedo, Arbok, and Gyarados. Be aware that each of them can make your Pokémon flinch during battle. You should be able to win fairly easily, especially if you use Electric-type Pokémon, since both Sharpedo and Gyarados are weak against them.

This side quest can only be completed once, giving you a single reward. It’s enough to get Slowking and register it in your Pokédex, but you’ll need additional resources if you find and want to evolve a rare Shiny or Alpha Slowpoke.

I was so excited to hear you can get a King’s Rock after winning in the Infinite Z-A Royale! But even better, there’s actually a way to guarantee you get one – that’s awesome!

Where to Buy King’s Rock in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

After completing the main story in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can buy a King’s Rock from a character located inside Racine Construction.

Racine Construction has a convenient fast-travel point, letting you quickly get back there. Inside, go to the warehouse where you fought Canari. You’ll find two characters near the stairs, and they both have useful items for you.

The shopkeeper on the left sells evolution items like the Metal Coat, which is needed to evolve Onix and Scyther. The shopkeeper on the right sells King’s Rocks, and you can buy as many as you like – perfect if you want to evolve a lot of Slowpokes into Slowkings!
