I’m so excited! Mega Evolution is coming back in Pokémon Legends: Z-A! And not just any Mega Evolutions – Mega Charizard X and Y are both returning! Apparently, you’ll need two different Charizardites to unlock both forms, and I’ve already found all the info on how it works.
Legends: Z-A features a wide variety of Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, including some new ones alongside returning favorites like Charizard.
Unlocking Mega Charizard in Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires a Charizardite, which can be difficult to obtain and may involve some dedicated gameplay, as detailed in our guide.
Where to Find Charizardite X & Y to Get Mega Charizard in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Once you’ve progressed far enough in the story to unlock Mega Evolution, you can buy both Charizardite items at the Stone Emporium.
Okay, so I finally finished Main Mission 10, and wow, it unlocked a ton of new Mega Evolutions! One of the best places to get Mega Stones is the Stone Emporium. They don’t have *every* single one, but thankfully, you can actually buy both Charizardite X and Charizardite Y there, which is awesome!
You can find The Stone Emporium in the southern part of Lumiose City, close to Hotel Z and Wild Zone 1, making it easy to spot on your map. It’s also conveniently located near the Rogue Mega Slowbro, one of the first Pokémon you’ll battle after joining Quasartico Inc.
Each Mega Stone costs $100,000 and you can only buy one of each type – you can’t collect multiples of the same stone.
Can You Have Both Mega Charizard X & Mega Charizard Y in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
You can obtain both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but you’ll need to have both corresponding Mega Stones.
Charizard can only Mega Evolve using one Mega Stone at a time, meaning you’ll need two Charizard on your team if you want to use both Mega forms in battle. Getting two can be tricky, as Charmander – the Pokémon Charizard evolves from – isn’t available until after you beat the main story, unless you chose it as your starter Pokémon from Mable at the beginning.
Having both Mega Charizard forms isn’t just for show; they each have distinct advantages and disadvantages. While both are powerful, Mega Charizard X is generally considered the more popular choice.
Hey, if you’re playing Pokémon Legends: Z-A and need help finishing your Pokédex, I’ve found a great place to trade! I joined the TopMob Discord server and it’s full of people looking to swap Pokémon, so you can finally get those last few entries. Definitely recommend checking it out!
