Mega Crabominable is a new Pokémon featured in the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. If you want to evolve Crabominable into its Mega form, you’ll need to find the Crabominite, which is the Mega Stone used for the evolution.
This guide explains how to finish the side quest to get the Crabominite, and how to catch and Mega Evolve a Crabominable. Here’s what you need to know.
How to Get Mega Crabominable in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension
Crabominite Location
After finishing the ‘Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 1’, Trainers can find the Crabominite – the item needed to Mega Evolve Crabominable – by completing a Side Mission within a 2-Star Hyperspace distortion that appears north of Lumiose City.
On the map, this Hyperspace distortion is marked by a yellow border containing a question mark. Unlike normal Hyperspace Wild Zones, this is a fixed encounter and won’t change when the in-game time changes.
When you enter the area, you’ll meet Boris, an NPC who will give you the side mission, “Rogue Mega Showdown.”
Make sure your strongest Pokémon is at least level 100, and use a Donut with a level boost of 20 to 30 before entering this area. The Mega Crabominable here are very strong – between levels 110 and 120 – and will attack relentlessly.
How to Defeat Mega Crabominable
You can obtain the Crabominite by defeating the two Mega Crabominable that are battling on the ice. These Pokémon are both Fighting and Ice types, and they are particularly vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Flying, Psychic, Steel, and Fairy-type attacks – meaning those attacks will do double damage.
Both Crabominable know the exact same four moves:
- Earthquake
- Dynamic Punch
- Rock Smash
- Ice Punch
Large Fairy-type Pokémon are best suited to battle these opponents, though Psychic and Fighting-types also work well. It’s best to avoid using Fire or Flying-type Pokémon, as they’re vulnerable to some of the moves these Pokémon use, making them a risky option.
Where to Find Crabominable in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Okay, so I found out something a little disappointing about this side mission in Legends Z-A. Unlike the Mega Pokemon you battle during the main story, I can’t actually catch a Mega Crabominable here. If I want to use the Crabominite and Mega Evolve my Crabominable, I’ll need to catch and train a regular Crabominable first. Apparently, there are a couple of ways to do that, so I’m going to have to look into those!
- Catch and evolve a into a Crabominable: Crabrawler can be found in 1-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones (Fighting-type). Use an Ice Stone on a Crabrawler to have it evolve into a Crabominable.
- Catch a directly: Crabominable can be found in 4-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones (Fighting/Ice-type). 4-Star zones start appearing after Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 5 is completed (Rogue Mega Heatran).
Once you have a Crabominable, equipping it with the Crabominite will allow it to Mega Evolve during battles.
