Okay, so Pokémon Legends: Z-A is bringing back Mega Evolution, which is HUGE! They’re even adding brand new Mega forms, like Mega Greninja, but you’ll need to find a special item called Greninjite to unlock it. I’m so hyped to finally use Mega Evolution again!
Mega Evolution returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, bringing powerful new forms to classic Pokémon like Greninja. This installment also features the original starters from the Kalos region, along with many other Pokémon.
Okay, so most Mega Evolutions you can get just by playing the game normally, but Mega Greninja is different. Getting everything you need to Mega Evolve Greninja – the Greninjite – takes a *lot* of effort, and I’ve put together a guide detailing exactly how to do it!
Where to Find Greninjite & Get Mega Greninja in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Greninjite in Pokémon Legends: Z-A can only be earned by playing Ranked Online battles during Season 1 and achieving the rank of K.
From October 16th to November 5th, players can earn Greninjite by participating in Season 1 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This item is the only way to unlock Mega Greninja, and for now, it won’t be available anywhere else.
Greninjite will be given to players who reach Rank K or higher at the end of Season 1 on November 5th. Because of this, you can’t get Mega Greninja legitimately before that date.
The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Greninjite will be available again in the future, so there will be other chances to get it.
Will Greninjite be Available Again?
Pokémon has announced that Greninjite will be available again after the first distribution event finishes, but they haven’t announced when or how yet.
It looks like Greninjite, the item needed to Mega Evolve Greninja, will likely only be available to players who achieve high ranks in competitive battles. The official announcement about Mega Greninja and other Mega Evolutions for the Kalos starters mentioned that Mega Stones earned as rewards will be given out again in future seasons, suggesting they won’t be widely available otherwise.
Plus, Greninjite, Delophoxite, and Chesnaughtite aren’t available by playing the game normally.
I’m still hoping to hear more about this, and honestly, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they might change their minds later on. Maybe they’ll find a way to make Greninja’s Mega Evolution available in the DLC, or even somewhere else down the line. We’ll just have to wait and see!
