Mega Sceptile is a very popular and powerful Mega Evolution. When it Mega Evolves, its type changes to Grass/Dragon, which makes it a strong competitor. Its base stats also increase significantly, boosting its Attack, Special Attack, Speed, and Defense. As a highly requested returning Mega Evolution, it’s now available in the Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC.
Want to learn how to get Mega Sceptile? You’ve come to the right place! This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining both Mega Sceptile and the Sceptilite, which is needed to evolve Sceptile into its Mega form.
How To Get Sceptilite in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC
Getting the Sceptilite Mega Stone and evolving Sceptile into Mega Sceptile is easy. You’ll need to own the Mega Dimension DLC – Sceptile is one of the Pokémon unlocked with it – and have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
To qualify, players must battle in Ranked Battles with their Pokémon during Season 5, which takes place from January 7th to January 28th, 2026.
To start playing ranked battles, players must follow these steps:
- Launch Pokemon Legends Z-A, and open the main menu (X)
- Navigate the menu and select ‘Link Play’
- Select Ranked Battles to join the queue
Okay, so if I want to unlock Mega Sceptile, I need to grind a bit! Basically, I have to reach Rank S this season. Rankings start at Z and go all the way up to A, so that means I need to climb seven ranks to get there. Sounds doable, time to get playing!
The recent changes to the game might make players think getting an S-Rank in Pokemon Legends Z-A’s ranked battles is difficult, but it’s actually quite easy. Having a strong team of Pokemon prepared for player-versus-player battles makes it even simpler.
Currently, the most popular Mega Evolutions in competitive battling are Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blastoise, Mega Venusaur, Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, regular Mega Mewtwo, Mega Gengar, and Mega Kangaskhan.
This Ranked Season offers more than just improved rankings and the coveted Sceptilite. Players can earn valuable rewards simply by participating in Ranked Battles, including Bottle Caps, Special Balls, useful Battle Items, Nuggets, and Seeds of Mastery. These Battle Rewards are earned separately from rank increases, meaning you start earning them just by joining the battles!
For the fifth season of Ranked Battles, you can use Pokémon from the Lumiose Pokedex (numbers 001-227) and the Hyperspace Pokedex (numbers 001-127, 131, and 132). You can register Pokémon at any level between 1 and 100, but during battles, all Pokémon will be leveled to 50. You’re also limited to only using one Pokémon of each Pokedex number. It’s really important to use Pokémon you’ve trained yourself to avoid getting banned. Pokémon with unknown origins could be copied or illegally modified, and Nintendo Online’s ban system is strict, even if you didn’t intend to cheat. So, play it safe and raise your own Pokémon.
