How to Get Mints in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Even though the battle system in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* is new and different from past *Pokémon* games, Pokémon natures still matter a lot in combat. While a Pokémon with a less-than-ideal nature can still be used, it won’t be as strong as others of the same species with better natures.

If you’ve caught a rare Pokémon but it has a nature that doesn’t suit its strengths, don’t worry! You can change its nature with a handy item called a Mint.

How to Change Natures in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, you can’t change a Pokemon’s nature directly, but you *can* alter how natures affect its stats using Mints. For instance, applying a Lonely Mint will boost a Pokemon’s Attack and lower its Defense, effectively mimicking the effects of having a Lonely nature. The Pokemon’s actual nature remains unchanged, but the Mint applies the stat boosts and reductions as if it were a different nature.

If your Pokémon has a nature like Relaxed (which boosts Defense but lowers Speed), and you want to change it to Jolly (boosting Speed but lowering Special Attack), you can use a Jolly Mint. Even though the Pokémon’s summary screen will still show its original nature, like Adamant, the Jolly nature’s effects will actually be applied. You can confirm this by checking the stats screen – look for the red upward arrows (showing stat increases) and blue downward arrows (showing decreases) to see how the nature is affecting your Pokémon.

How to Get Mints in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, you can buy Mints from flower stands outside for 20,000 Pokedollars each. The game features a total of 21 Mints.

  • 17 out of the 21 Mints are being sold at a small outdoor market, near Wild Zone 3 (Rogue Plaza), near the Looker Bureau.
  • The remaining 4 Mints can be bought at a solitary flower stand just outside Wild Zone 6, at the southwestern edge of the map.

You can easily find the shops that sell Mint by looking for flower stands. Each stand has four different types of Mint available, plus one special ‘Serious Mint’ which has a neutral flavor.

To change a Pokémon’s Nature using a Mint, make sure the Pokémon you want to affect is in your party. Then, find the Mint in your Bag under ‘Other Items’. Select the Mint and choose ‘Use This Item’.

You can start purchasing Mints once you finish Main Mission 03, “A New Life in Lumiose City,” which unlocks the ability to explore the game world freely.
