How to Breed Cats in Mewgenics

In Mewgenics, breeding cats is mostly a hands-off process – you simply place breeding-age cats together and check back the next day. With the right conditions, you might get a kitten or two that inherit characteristics from their parents. At first, it’s hard to control what happens, leaving a lot to chance. Sometimes this leads to problems like cats fighting or not wanting to breed.

To successfully breed your cats, start by fully upgrading Tink. He’ll teach you everything you need to know about how your cats mate, including which ones are compatible and which ones aren’t.

The game also reveals details about each cat’s personality and genetics. You’ll see icons indicating their sexual preference, how much energy they have, and how likely they are to be aggressive—lower aggression is best! You’ll also be able to check if a cat has any genetic defects that could be passed on to their kittens, so it’s important to review their family history.

Tink’s new feature lets you identify cats with unwanted traits and stop them from breeding. You can do this by isolating them in different rooms or removing them from the game.

You can also check a kitten’s potential traits using its DNA information, found in the ‘Base and Bonus Stats’ section of its profile. Bonus Stats show how much a kitten’s base stats – like Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity – might increase or decrease. For instance, if both parents have a +5 in Intelligence but a -1 Bonus Stat, the kitten will probably end up with +4 Intelligence. To get the strongest kittens, choose parents that have high scores in all of these areas.

To help your creatures breed, make sure your house is comfortable and inviting. You can do this by decorating with furniture that boosts stats like Comfort, Stimulation, Health, and Appeal—and positive Mutation effects. You’ll unlock these furnishings by completing Chapter 3, ‘The Caves,’ in Act 1, and then you can purchase them from Baby Jack.

Finally, it’s important to isolate sick cats, particularly those with severe illnesses like cancer, to prevent them from spreading disease to your healthy cats. When sick cats interact, their kittens are very likely to catch something, which is a serious problem. You should either remove sick cats from the group or send them on missions with the hope they’ll get better.
