Initially, understand that your Central Region will consistently yield some food. While this may not be sufficient to prevent hunger among all inhabitants, it serves as a foundation. Subsequently, you can increase food production by developing Agricultural Zones, which necessitate fertile soil hidden under the ice.

What method is used to cultivate fertile land? The process is called “frost-breaking.” Pressing and holding down the ‘ALT’ key on your keyboard will reveal a map overlay displaying all the resource nodes near your city. Pay attention to the icons resembling leaves, as they signify areas where you can plant crops using your Food District.

In every district, aim to construct your food production facility on numerous fertile locations for optimal efficiency, allowing you to yield more simultaneously.

At times, I might find myself requiring my team to work emergency shifts, which can boost productivity but potentially erode trust and increase the likelihood of injuries. It’s a tough call, but when survival is at stake, it seems like a risk worth taking!

Building up your food supply all at once is possible. Normally, your food supply hovers around 50,000 during the game, which takes a while to accumulate. When you reach this threshold, you have the option to create a Food Stockpile Hub from the Hub Construction menu on the bottom-right of your HUD. This action will further expand your food storage capacity by an extra 50,000 units.

In Utopia Builder’s sandbox mode, you might find that you’ll eventually need extra Hubs for your lasting settlement as the gameplay can extend over a considerable period of time, unlike in a single mission where only one or two Hubs are usually sufficient.
