Earning the Platinum trophy in Nioh 3 is significantly easier than in previous Nioh games, largely because some of the more repetitive tasks are no longer required. One potentially confusing trophy is called “Ruckus in the Sanctuary.”
Players can unlock this by progressing through the main story, finishing the first map in the ‘Warring States’ area, and then completing a mission in ‘Heian’. While the requirements might seem a little complicated, don’t worry – you can’t miss this achievement, and the guide below will show you exactly how to get it in Nioh 3.
How to Get Ruckus in the Sanctuary Trophy/Achievement in Nioh 3
To earn the trophy, you need to complete the Black Feather Sanctuary mission. This involves cleansing a barrier located at Matsuo-taisha Shrine. During the main story, you’ll face a large raven sitting on the Tori Gates. It will attack you with projectiles from a distance, so you’ll need to hide behind the ice barriers as you approach it until it flies away.
You won’t get this trophy if you scared the crow away by approaching it. To earn it, you need to shoot the crow with either a bow or a gun three times – once in each of the three locations where it appears throughout the mission, including the area leading up to the boss. A single gunshot is usually enough, but you might need two or three arrows if you’re using a bow.
If you haven’t done this yet, head to the Battle Scroll. There, you’ll find an option to replay the Black Feather Sanctuary mission whenever you want. All you need to do is shoot the raven to make it fly away, then defeat the boss, Otoroshi. As soon as Otoroshi is defeated and the quest is finished, the trophy will unlock.
Using Sacred Water before the battle will temporarily boost how quickly you regain Ki during the fight.
Tips on Defeating Otoroshi in Nioh 3
Okay, so this boss is really tricky because it loves to vanish and then reappear right above you to grab or slam you – those attacks are the ones you really need to watch out for, especially if you’re not super strong yet. I’ve found that if you’re good with the Ninja Style, using a ton of Ninjutsu skills is the way to go. Things like Shrapnel Bomb or Calamity really do a lot of damage to this boss, so I definitely recommend using those!
In the second phase, the boss will get up and a few of its attacks will change, though most will remain the same. Remember to use your Summoning Seals – the stronger ones can do significant damage and could be what you need to win.
