I’m really excited about all the new Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Z-A, especially with the Mega Dimension DLC! But honestly, finding Sandygast has been a little tough. It’s not super obvious where to look, so I had to do some searching to finally catch one.
This guide provides all the essential information for players about this Pokémon – a Ghost/Ground type that’s back by popular demand. You’ll find details on where to find it, how to help it evolve, its most effective moves, ideal natures, and a breakdown of its stats.
How To Find Sandygast in Pokemon Legends Z-A (Terror In The Sands Side Mission)
Sandygast is a unique Pokémon that looks like a sandcastle with a shovel stuck in it, and it’s often found on beaches and in playgrounds. In Pokémon Legends Z-A, you can easily get one by completing a Side Mission called ‘Terror in the Sands’.
After you finish the Hyperspace Survey mission Nº2 for Corbeau, head to Wild Zone 8. Near the entrance, you’ll find a Quasartico Inc. employee who will explain that something strange is happening in the Wild Zone, and it’s impacting the Pokémon there.
Start the mission and head into the Zone. You’ll watch a scene where Sandygast emerge from the sand and battle the Trainer. Beat them all, then use the catch screen to add one (or more!) to your team.
Finishing this quest gives players the Scorching Sands TM, which teaches a Ground-type attack. This attack has a chance to burn the Pokémon it hits.
Now that’s covered, let’s move on to evolving Sandygast into Palossand. You can do this by leveling up Sandygast to level 42. Keep in mind that both Sandygast and Palossand are Ghost and Ground-type Pokémon, making them vulnerable to Water, Grass, Ghost, Ice, and Dark-type moves.
As a huge fan, one of the things I’m most excited about with this Pokémon is its typing! It’s totally immune to Fighting, Normal, and Electric moves, which is amazing because those types are everywhere in the current Pokémon Legends Z-A battles. Plus, it takes half damage from Bug, Rock, and Poison attacks, making it super durable overall!
Okay, so Palossand isn’t exactly a powerhouse. Its base stats are really low – only 480 total – which makes it one of the weaker Ghost-types out there. But don’t count it out completely! If you want to actually use it effectively, you need to give it a Modest nature and max out its HP and Special Attack with an EV spread of 252 in each, and then put the remaining 4 points into Speed. That’s how you get the most out of what Palossand can do.
This Pokémon can learn powerful moves like Shadow Ball and Earth Power, which form the core of its strategy. Players can also expand its move options with Scorching Sands and Ancient Power, now available through the new TM Vendor. Ancient Power is a useful move for boosting Palossand’s weaker stats.
