In Pokemon GO, unlike its reputation in mainline games for having a low catch rate, Beldum is not hard to find. This Steel/Psychic type Pokemon has been part of Pokemon GO since the 2018 “Hoenn Celebration” event, and Shiny Beldum joined the game later that year. Even though it’s not commonly encountered in the wild, it can be a challenge to hunt for its Shiny version. The “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales” event happening in July 2025 will boost Beldum spawn rates, providing an excellent opportunity for players who haven’t caught a Shiny Beldum yet to do so before the event concludes.
Where to Find Shiny Beldum
Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales, July 2025
During the “Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales” event as a gamer, I’m keeping my eyes peeled for both regular and Shiny Beldum roaming around! Since I can’t spot the Shiny one just by looking at the map, I make sure to engage every Beldum that shows up. It’s only when I reach the encounter screen that I find out if I’ve stumbled upon a Shiny Beldum or not.
When you’re hunting for a Shiny Beldum in Pokemon, since encounters use a loading screen, it might be beneficial to disable AR Mode. You can do this by navigating to the Settings or directly from the encounter screen (located in the top-right corner).
From July 22-27, 2025, Beldum will show up more frequently, but here’s how to boost its appearance: You can use a Magnetic Lure on a PokeStop. This lure attracts Steel-type Pokemon, so you might also encounter other Pokemon like Magnemite while you’re at it.
An alternative approach is to burn Incense, which attracts Pokemon for a specific duration. However, keep in mind that if you’re moving at a fast pace, Pokemon summoned by Daily Incense have a 100% chance of fleeing. Therefore, it’s usually best to use Daily Incense (or normal) when you’re strolling and not riding as a passenger in a vehicle.
As a devoted Pokémon trainer, remember that during this special event, you won’t stumble upon a Beldum as a 1-star or 3-star Raid Boss. Instead, if you’re on the lookout for a Shiny Beldum, your best bet is to keep an eye out for wild encounters!

How to Get Shiny Metang and Shiny Metagross
As a devoted fan, I can share some exciting insights about my beloved Shiny Beldum! To witness its transformation into Shiny Metang, you’ll need to accumulate 25 Beldum Candy. If your goal is to evolve Shiny Metang further into Shiny Metagross, prepare for the next step: gather an additional 100 Beldum Candy.
Remember, it’s essential to evolve Shiny Beldum first to unlock both the Shiny Metang and Shiny Metagross entries in your Pokédex (shiny version). But if you plan on using Shiny Metagross for Trainer Battles or Raids, I recommend holding out for a 3-star Shiny Beldum instead of settling for a 0/1-star. Catch them all!
Steel/Psychic-typing means Metagross is weak to the following types:
- Ground
- Dark
- Ghost
- Fire
In the game Pokemon GO, Metagross’ moves are primarily restricted to Steel and Psychic types, with Earthquake being the exception as it belongs to the Ground type. Typically, a Shiny Metagross will either have Bullet Punch or Zen Headbutt for its quick attack, while Flash Cannon or Psychic will be its special attack. However, you can alter both charged and quick attacks using Technical Machines (TMs).
