CloverPit initially seems like a basic slot game, but it hides a really unusual system within the roguelike genre. While you play, a creepy body gradually forms inside the machine. These unsettling parts can unlock one of CloverPit’s key items: the Skeleton Key. This guide will detail how to obtain these body parts, what they’re used for, and how to get the Skeleton Key to break out of the locked room in CloverPit.
How To Get the Skeleton Key in CloverPit
The Skeleton Key is a unique item you receive after finishing the corpse system. Once you have the Skeleton Key, you can quickly and simply get out of the locked room.
You must unlock all four drawers before trying to obtain the Skeleton Key. This is because you need the extra space to store all of the corpse parts, and you won’t have enough room if the drawers remain locked. Getting the key requires preparation!
Here are the exact steps you need to follow to get the Skeleton Key:
- Collect 4 Corpse pieces and purchase the Skull from the shop once it appears. It synergizes with the Corpse parts and is required for the ending.
- Next, ignore the red calls at the start of Deadline #3 and #7 by clicking on “Be Right Back.” Ignoring a red call will add a slash mark over one of the three 6s on the floppy disk next to your slot machine. You need to mark all three 6s before the final Deadline.
- To force the third red call, you must spin a 666 pattern during a deadline before the 8th one. You can boost your chance of 666 by using the Heartbreak Memory Card at the start of your run.
- When Deadline #8 starts, all three 6s on the disk should be slashed. Now, answer the phone at Deadline #8.
- Complete Deadline #8 by scoring more than 250,000 points. Once you beat Deadline #8, collect the Skeleton Key from the box beside the ATM.
- You can then use the key to unlock the door and escape.
How To Collect More Corpse Pieces in CloverPit
You can also begin a new run using items from defeated enemies in another way: any charms left inside chests or drawers when a run ends will be automatically turned into corpse parts at the start of your next run. With careful planning, you can begin with up to four parts already equipped.
Collecting body parts isn’t free, however. Each one raises your overall debt by five percent, making it harder to stay alive and adding more pressure to each attempt. While corpses might seem like a burden at first, they become valuable when combined with the Skull.
With each corpse part you collect, the Skull will give you a free, random charm. This is a particularly risky, yet highly rewarding strategy that CloverPit has to offer.
