The gameplay in “Hell Is Us” primarily involves exploring a world filled with puzzles, encounters with ominous creatures, and combat that can be demanding. To make things easier, you can enhance your weapons and defensive equipment by utilizing Shards, which are used to boost your weapon’s rank. A higher weapon rank allows for greater leveling up, resulting in increased damage per hit of your combo, as well as an expanded Lymbic Energy capacity. However, Shards vary in size and type, and those needed to achieve the higher weapon ranks in “Hell Is Us” are harder to find than others.
As an enthusiast, here’s my breakdown of acquiring all shard sizes and types in a seamless manner, plus tips on leveraging Victor to grab your desired shards.
I’ll walk you through it!
How to Get All Shard Sizes in Hell Is Us
Shards are divided into three categories: Small, Medium, and Large. The size of the shard obtained depends on the strength of the foe defeated. Level 1 enemies typically yield small shards, level 2 enemies provide medium shards, while level 3 enemies give large ones. The number of shards obtained can differ depending on the type of enemy you encounter; stronger opponents tend to drop more shards, whereas standard humanoid-like enemies usually only dispense a few.
To easily determine an opponent’s level, simply focus on them using the ‘lock-on’ function (R3 or RS), then search for the number beside their health meter. As shown in the attached screenshot, I have emphasized this detail for clarity.
How to Get All Shard Types in Hell Is Us
Next to each fragment’s size, there are diverse colors or types of fragments associated with varying Lymbic energies found in Hell Is Us. These include:
1. Blood Red Shards – Representing anger and aggression.
2. Golden Yellow Shards – Symbolizing self-esteem and pride.
3. Emerald Green Shards – Signifying jealousy and envy.
4. Azure Blue Shards – Representing sadness and despair.
5. Indigo Purple Shards – Reflecting guilt and shame.
6. White Pure Shards – Symbolizing forgiveness and peace.
- Neutral – White
- Rage – Red
- Terror – Green
- Grief – Blue
- Ecstasy – Yellow
As I delve deeper into the game, I come across formidable foes that unleash spectral beings known as Lymbic energy entities. Before I can take down the white-hued creature, these entities must be vanquished first. Take a look at the screenshot for an example of one such entity, the Grief Lymbic energy entity.

Upon vanquishing an adversary infused with Lymbic energy, fragments associated with that specific Lymbic energy will be yielded as loot. For instance, the opponents depicted in the provided screenshot dropped Large Grief Fragments since they represented a level three grief-type foe.
To collect each kind of shard within “Hell Is Us”, all you have to do is defeat enemies that represent the type of shard you’re aiming for.
You can quickly spot the kind of foe you’re dealing with based on the color on their chest before initiating battle. If there is no color present, it signifies a common opponent who will yield Neutral fragments upon defeat.
Infusing Shards with Victor in Hell Is Us

In simpler terms, when you’re low on resources for upgrading weapons or armor in Jova, Victor the Blacksmith can employ his ‘Infuse Shards’ technique to craft Rage, Ecstasy, Terror, and Grief shards as well. This could potentially save your day!
To accomplish this task, simply navigate to the ‘Craft’ menu and select the ‘Infuse Shards’ option. Here, you have the freedom to craft any type and size of shard. No matter which Shard you wish to produce, it requires three Neutral shards of the same size. For instance, if you’re after a large Terror shard, you’ll need three large Neutral shards.
