How to Get Softwood in Hytale—Best Softwood Location, Explained

Hytale offers a wide variety of materials to collect, but some – like Softwood – can be tricky to understand because of how the game works.

TopMob is clearing up any questions about Softwood, explaining what it is and where to find it.

Best Location to Find Softwood in Hytale

Although it’s called Softwood, it isn’t one single type of wood in Hytale. It actually refers to several kinds of wood that come from different softwood trees.

Most of the trees near Hytale’s spawning area are oak and birch, which aren’t the type of wood needed for certain builds. Luckily, you can still find Aspen Trees there, and those do provide the right resource.

Aspen trees are easy to spot with their white bark and orange leaves. While not as common as oak or birch trees when you first start playing Hytale, they aren’t hard to find. You might even stumble upon a logcutting camp that enemies have abandoned, giving you a chance to collect fallen logs after defeating them.

You can also get Beech Saplings from the Farmer’s Workbench. These provide Softwood and can be grown at your base, letting you avoid risky trips to gather resources.

What Does Softwood do in Hytale?

In Hytale, softwood is a versatile wood used for building and crafting. However, you won’t find it listed as ‘softwood’ in your inventory; it appears differently depending on how you obtain it.

Softwood comes from trees like Aspen and Beech. Once you’ve collected the logs, you can use them to make many things – furniture, building supplies, and other items. However, Softwood itself is often used as a general material in the game.

What is Softwood Used For in Hytale?

You’ll need Softwood Trunks to improve your Farmer’s Workbench in Hytale, which lets you create more recipes and items.

The Farmer’s Workbench is a useful crafting station in Hytale that lets you create seeds for fruits and vegetables, and saplings for trees. This means you can grow your own food and resources, reducing the need to explore dangerous areas for materials.
