Softwood Logs are needed to improve your Farmer’s Workbench in the game Hytale from Tier 1 to Tier 2. This upgrade unlocks many helpful crafting recipes, so obtaining Softwood is essential for progression.
You can easily find Softwood Logs early in the game in Hytale, but they don’t always appear with that specific name. “Softwood” actually covers several different types of logs. Here’s a breakdown of what to look for.
How to Get Softwood Logs in Hytale
Softwood Logs can be obtained by cutting down Beech, Aspen, and Banyan trees in Hytale.
You can find Beech and Aspen trees in many different areas of the Emerald Grove (Zone 1), and they’re easy to recognize. Banyan trees, however, are only located in one specific part of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4).
Beech, aspen, and banyan logs are all considered softwoods in Hytale and can be used equally to improve your Farmer’s Workbench.
Beech Logs
Beech trees are common in many areas of the Emerald Grove (Zone 1) in Hytale. They’re easily identified by their brown bark, which is darker around the edges, and their light green leaves. On the game map, beech trees show up as small, green clusters.
Beech and Oak trees can look very similar, with their brown trunks and light green leaves. However, the main way to tell them apart is by the color of the bark: Oak tree trunks are a darker brown than Beech tree trunks, as you can see in the image above.
Aspen Logs
Aspen trees, similar to Beech trees, grow in the different Emerald Grove (Zone 1) areas of Hytale. You can easily spot them thanks to their bright yellow leaves and pale, grayish-white bark.
Aspen trees are usually tall and slender, with a single, straight trunk and few branches. They’re easily spotted on maps as small yellow dots.
Banyan Logs
Banyan trees grow exclusively in the underground jungle layer of Zone 4, also known as the Devastated Lands. The land above is barren and dangerous, covered in lava, smoke, and the remains of burnt trees – there’s no plant life to be seen on the surface.
But that’s just what it seems like at first glance. Beneath the surface lies a vibrant underground jungle within the Devastated Lands, full of life and featuring trees like the Banyan.
You can find also Adamantite in the Desolated Lands.
Banyan trees are large trees known for their many branches and distinctive appearance. They have light brown bark and green leaves. Because the area around their roots doesn’t get much sunlight, they often appear shadowy. A key characteristic is the loose, vine-like roots that hang down from their branches, sometimes reaching the ground.
