The San Saba Songbird is a fantastic Legendary Pistol in Borderlands 4, and it’s already changing the game. Even without any exploits, it’s very powerful, but a recently discovered, unpatched glitch means you might not need to use the Crit Knife anymore. This Borderlands 4 Songbird glitch lets players deal massive amounts of damage with just a single button press. We’ll show you how to obtain the Songbird and how to perform this glitch, making boss farming in Ultimate Vault Hunter Rank 5 incredibly easy.
How to Get the Songbird in Borderlands 4
Trinket Crevass Abandoned Auger Mine Walkthrough
Players can obtain the San Saba Songbird by defeating Rocken Roller, the boss located inside the “Trinket Crevass” Abandoned Auger Mine in the Ruined Sumplands, Carcadia Burn. This Auger Mine allows players to repeatedly fight Rocken Roller, rewarding them with a powerful pistol. The video above provides a complete guide to navigating the Trinket Crevass Auger Mine, showing you exactly where to go. The boss fight itself isn’t too difficult, but Rocken Roller is a Vile enemy, meaning he’s protected by crystals that must be destroyed before you can damage him. While explosive weapons are excellent for breaking these crystals, consistent attacks will also work, as they will eventually regenerate. To actually hurt Rocken Roller, use Incendiary weapons, which are very effective against his Flesh health.
How to Do the Songbird Glitch in Borderlands 4
To do the Songbird glitch in Borderlands 4, first completely empty your gun’s magazine so you have no bullets left. This will start the automatic reload animation – the one where your character pulls back the gun and ejects the empty casings. However, right as this happens, you need to quickly switch to a different weapon, and then immediately switch back to the Songbird. Here’s a breakdown of the steps:
- Remove two weapons from your loadout (PlayStation and Xbox only)
- Shoot the Songbird until the magazine is empty
- Switch weapons with Triangle+Triangle / Y+Y / 2+1 in rapid succession so that you never see your other weapon, but instead re-equip the Songbird
- Repeat the switching weapons step as many times as you want without reloading to stack a damage buff
- Reload the Songbird and shoot it at a boss to see the damage!
Essentially, you need to stop the reload animation, switch to a different weapon, and then quickly switch back to the Songbird *before* the weapon change fully completes. Repeat this process as many times as desired to continuously increase the damage bonus from the Songbird’s ability. This exploit works because the Songbird grants a +100% Damage buff for 5 seconds whenever you swap weapons. However, by canceling the weapon swap and reload, you can stack this Damage buff indefinitely.
