How to get Soulseer Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Stories 3 – Shogun Cenataur Invasive guide

The Soulseer Mizutsune is a powerful 7-star Leviathan in Monster Hunter Stories 3, and it’s quite challenging to obtain.

First, you’ll need to find and befriend a Mizutsune, a rare and endangered monstie. You’ll have to defeat a Shogun Cenataur to even reach its den. Here’s a guide on how to unlock the Soulseer Mizutsune.

How to repel the Invasive Shogun Cenataur in Monster Hunter Stories 3

Your first task is to defeat the Invasive Shogun Cenataur, located in the Canalta Timberland (see icon “5” on the image). Be prepared – its Killer Claw attacks are very powerful, so make sure your defense is strong!

It’s helpful to have party members who can raise your defense, since you’ll need to withstand some attacks. You can also use Mega Armorskin to boost your monsties’ defense. Luckily, the enemy’s claws are relatively easy to break if you can protect yourself, and it will back off once you stop its attacks.

You will be able to access an egg den that allows you to get a Mizutsune (after the egg hatches).

How to get Zinogre in Monster Hunter Stories 3

To unlock the Soulseer mutation, you’ll first need a Zinogre – a rare and endangered monstie. Head to Tarkuan and defeat the Invasive Odogaron (marked as location ‘8’ on the map). Make sure to have a monstie in your party that knows a mud-based move.

If you can use a move like Mud Torrent, you’ll be able to damage the Odogaron’s claws and make it retreat. This will open up access to a den containing a Zinogre egg. Just wait for it to hatch, and you’ll have your own Zinogre!

How to get the Soulseer Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Stories 3

There are two requirements to fulfil to unlock the Soulseer Mizutsune egg.

  • Get Mizutsune’s Ecosystem Rank to S.
  • Resides in habitats that have at least one other endangered monster that is a rival to Mizutsue, which is our Zinogre.

After finding your first Mizutsune and Zinogre, let them go in the same hunting area. This will increase your chances of finding more of their eggs there. Continue releasing Mizutsune in that area until the region reaches an Ecosystem Rank of S. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have fulfilled all the conditions to get a Soulseer Mizutsune.

You can try exploring monster dens randomly, hoping to find a rare Mizutsune. Alternatively, you can use paintballs on a Mizutsune, which will reveal its den. If you’re fortunate, you might discover a Soulseer Mizutsune egg there, allowing you to unlock the unique Soulseer mutation.
