In the game ‘Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon’, power proves to be a treacherous entity, and this fact is painfully obvious to those ensnared within King Sagremor’s ominous Abyss. Yet, persuading the revered Queen Sagremor to renounce her rule over the domain isn’t straightforward. The only recourse available is to confront her in battle, a feat that may not be as simple as it sounds.
Fortunately, we’ll guide you through getting ready to encounter the royals within their grand throne room. With a touch of finesse and a dash of fortune, you might be able to lift the persistent curse plaguing the abyss, allowing all its inhabitants to live freely once more.
How To Reach King And Queen Sagremor
To meet the King and Queen of Sagremor’s Abyss, you must secure an audience during the “Throne Of The Depths” mission. This can be achieved by assisting both queens’ sisters in their respective quests that follow.
- Lost In The Liminal Quest. Meet with the eldest sister to help locate the royal children who have gone missing.
- Harrowing Of Hearts Quest. Find the youngest sister, Claire, and help her slay the incarnations of her lover.
After finishing these tasks, the Custodian will show up and hand over the key for both the throne room and the chapel. Proceed through the doors located at the end of the hall past the statue of the All-Mother to get to the chapel.
In that location, you’ll encounter a peculiar figure with a mushroom for a head. This being proposes to demonstrate something to you, and it’s best to oblige. Once it does, it will disclose the Mycelium to you – a fascinating fungal creature known for its ability to dominate its host. The Mycelium then instructs you to obtain a fragment of itself and use it to contaminate the king when you locate him.
Here’s your sole chance to accept this proposal, so don’t forget to claim a part for yourself. You can mull over your choice at a later time.
Following the acquisition of the Mycelium fragment, open the church’s rear doors and ride the elevator down to the throne room. It’s currently blocked off, offering you one final opportunity to save your progress and ready yourself before confronting Queen Sagremor in battle.
How To Defeat Queen Sagremor
Stepping into the throne room triggers a scene where the decayed lich, Queen Sagremor, is unveiled. Withered by time and tainted with evil, she threatens you with a radiant, spectral sword that seems to pulse red. She dives towards you in an attempt to split you asunder; be cautious, for it’s crucial you thwart her attack.
While the queen soars through the air above the throne room, utilize the pillars to dodge her assaults and gain some breathing space to find an optimal position. If approaching her up close proves challenging, consider employing ranged attacks with throwing knives instead.
Be sure to evade her sweeping attack, as it’s quite powerful.
Besides her impressive ability with a sword, she conjures up icy spectral spikes as well. These spikes immobilize you by freezing you to the ground. In this state, all you can do is defend and utilize life-draining magic to recuperate from the onslaught of attacks.
After vanquishing the spectral queen, I’ll snatch her ghostly blade – the Spectral Sword. Once the throne room has been rebuilt, I’ll rifle through her remains for loot. Her magical gear would be quite a stylish addition to my mage’s wardrobe.
Should You Infect King Sagremor With The Mycelium Or Leave Him To Die?
Part of handling the queen’s affairs was determining the king’s destiny. Now that the queen is deceased, converse with King Sagremor who sits on the throne. The realm within the Abyss will crumble, and all its inhabitants will perish. However, before this occurs, King Sagremor will bestow upon you his half of the fragmented Menhir Rites Tablet.
This is the only chance you have, so make sure to take it!
As a gamer, I find solace in allowing the Mycelium to claim dominion within the treacherous labyrinth of Sagremor’s Abyss. When engaging with its inhabitants, their voices resonate eerily as if possessed by the Mycelium itself. This method ensures that the dungeon remains stable and usable, sparing those unfortunate souls trapped inside from a fate worse than death.
Consequently, these beings within the Abyss become impervious to harm, rendering them impossible to slay. This means that there’s no way to obtain spoils from the monarch or his courtiers. They each possess extraordinary magical artifacts, which could prove beneficial for your purposes.
In case of uncertainty, it’s best to save your game first, then choose to infect the king for The Sporeborn King trophy/achievement. Afterward, you can reload the saved game and let the king die naturally, allowing you to collect the loot before returning to Cuanacht.
Since the king is weak and still seated on his throne, it’s time to eliminate him. After that, make your way back to the hiding place of the sisters to grab their belongings too.
While you’re at it, take Renaud out, too. Put the royal family to rest after centuries of torment.
