Birt’s Bees Attributes
In Borderlands 4, finding powerful legendary items is key to creating a strong character build. Specifically, legendary class mods are always worth grabbing, as they significantly improve your character’s skills.
Need a powerful weapon to help you succeed in Kairos? Check out Birt’s Bees! This legendary SMG is a top-tier choice, and it’s special ability lets you precisely control each shot.
Let’s break down how to get Birt’s Bees in Borderlands 4, and which characters you should use it on.
How To Get Birt’s Bees Legendary SMG
You can get Birt’s Bees by defeating Sludgemaw, a challenging boss in Borderlands 4. Sludgemaw is located at the Watershed Gate in The Fadefields, which is north of the Someday Rise Safehouse.
You can’t reach this area yet. You’ll need to finish a specific side quest before you can access the part where Sludgemaw is located.
Okay, so if you want to fight the Sludgemaw boss, you’ve gotta finish the ‘All Charged Up’ side quest first. But you can’t even *start* ‘All Charged Up’ until you’ve finished ‘Null and Void’ – so do that one first!
After finishing both missions, you’ll unlock access to the Watershed Gate area and be able to challenge the Sludgemaw boss.
How To Farm Birt’s Bees Legendary SMG

To repeatedly fight Sludgemaw for the Birt’s Bees SMG in Borderlands 4, use Moxxi’s Encore Machine to restart the boss battle after defeating it.
Sludgemaw can be a frustrating boss to farm because it frequently burrows underground and stays hidden for a long time.
To defeat the boss faster, consider using a Vex bleed build, a Harlowe CHROMA Accelerator build, or a Rafa Peacebringer Cannon build – all of these can quickly reduce the boss’s health.
If you’re not heavily armored, you can position yourself near the boss to encourage it to attack with its close-range attacks, which will also stop it from burrowing underground as much.
Fire-based weapons are very effective against Sludgemaw because it only has one health bar and is vulnerable to fire. On harder difficulties, these weapons will do much more damage compared to other types of attacks.
Birt’s Bees Attributes

Birt’s Bees is a popular submachine gun in Borderlands 4 known for its rapid firing speed and good magazine capacity. It’s available in different elemental types, and generally, the elemental versions of this gun are more powerful than the standard one, so it’s best to try and find one with an element.
Burt’s Bees has a unique ability called Hivemind. When you fire, the bullets initially spread out, but then quickly come back together to hit where you’re aiming. If an enemy is close by, the bullets will even automatically adjust their path to target them.
This weapon is effective in almost any combat scenario because it doesn’t require precise aiming. I especially enjoy using it during fast-paced battles, allowing me to move and fire without worrying too much about where my shots are going.
I think Birt’s Bees is especially effective when playing as Rafa, particularly with a build that gives you unlimited ammo. I also frequently use it with Amon and Harlowe. It’s a really versatile weapon that can be a strong choice for any Vault Hunter, much like the Wombo Combo.
