Instead of complying with his request to end your life, challenge him to a fight. Once you’ve defeated him, you’ll be rewarded with the Old Hunter Badge. By presenting this badge to the messengers within the Hunter’s Dream, you can purchase The Burial Blade for 60,000 Blood Echos.
If you haven’t reached the real conclusion in Bloodborne, fighting Gehrman will also bring your journey to a close.
Using The Burial Blade In A First Playthrough
In a New Game Plus, the Old Hunter Badge enables players to immediately buy the weapon upon gaining access to the Hunter’s Dream. If you aim to utilize this weapon during the main game, DLC or late-game Chalice Dungeon farming, defeat Gehrman while working towards the true ending, but let yourself be defeated by Moon Presence instead. This will keep your current playthrough active, allowing you to acquire the Burial Blade and complete any remaining content in the game.
