As an old-time adventurer who’s seen his fair share of dungeons and dragons, I must say that the journey through Dragon Quest III has been quite the rollercoaster ride! The quest for the Sacred Amulet is one that every hero should embark on.
First off, you’ll want to head to the Tower of Rubiss, a towering structure filled with treasure and challenges. Don’t forget your trusty Zap-based spells, as Baramos and his minions aren’t fond of them. Once you’ve defeated the Soul of Baramos, blow a tune on that Faerie Flute to awaken Rubiss herself!
After receiving the Sacred Amulet, it’s time to use that Rainbow Drop to create a bridge to Zoma’s Citadel. Just follow the quest markers and don’t forget to take a moment to appreciate the view – after all, you’ve earned it!
Lastly, remember: Adventuring isn’t just about the destination, but the journey itself. And if you ever find yourself lost or in need of a good laugh, just remember that every dungeon has its share of Ashdemons… and maybe a few jokes too! Good luck, hero! May your adventures be filled with treasure, laughter, and plenty of Zap-based spells!

Before You Visit Alefgard – Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Before venturing into Alefgard via the Pit of Giaga, it’s crucial to gather a unique artifact. After defeating Baramos, head to the Church of the Dragon Queen and converse with the white dragon residing within. The reward will be the Sphere of Light. This item isn’t essential at first, but it will prove useful in Alefgard’s climactic battle near the game’s conclusion.
Once you have DQ3’s Sphere of Light, you can visit the Pit of Giaga and descend into Alefgard.
How to Get the Sunstone in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Upon reaching Alefgard, you’ll discover yourself in the Western Tantegel district, a quaint coastal region serving as your gateway to the area. Additionally, you’ll acquire another vessel here. Regrettably, Ramia the Everbird is unavailable for use within Alefgard.
To reach Tantegel town from Western Tantegel Port, take the eastern route. Once there, feel free to discover the town, but keep an eye on the quest marker guiding you towards the church. Upstairs inside the church, you’ll meet Robbin ‘Ood – a legend in his own right. He will share that the Sunstone is safeguarded within Tantegel Castle.
Inside Tantegel Castle:
Within the castle, head towards the eastern staircase located on one side of the structure. Leave from the eastern treasury, veer northward, then take a left at the kitchens and proceed southward. You’ll spot the stairs on your right-hand side.
Upstairs, I’d guide you towards the cozy northwest nook. That’s where you’ll stumble upon a distinctive chest adorned with an exclamation mark. Crack it open to lay your hands on the radiant Sunstone hidden within!
The Sunstone isn’t merely a common trinket; include it in your personal stash because it possesses the ability to rouse several teammates from slumber.
After Tantegel:
Once I grab the Sunstone, my next crucial artifact lies within the Shrine of the Spirit. No rush though, ’cause I can traverse through numerous other spots, gather a ton of top-tier loot, and level up my gear before heading there.
You have the opportunity to explore the Quagmire Cave, a location that will help you complete the mission for the Auroral Helm. Don’t forget to return to Gaia’s Navel afterwards to gather the Zenithium.
You can also visit Cantlin, and begin the quest for the Sword of Kings.
How to Get the Staff of Rain in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
To obtain the Staff of Rain, make your way to the Shrine of the Spirit. Inside, speak with the Servant of Rubiss. The Shrine of the Spirit can be found in southeastern Alefgard, situated along the southern coast. You’ll need to use a ship to reach it. It is located west of the island where the Sanctum stands, and south of Cantlin.
Upon entering the sanctuary, navigate your path upward. At this peak, you’ll find the Servant of Rubiss. It turns out she’s the very same disembodied voice that’s been guiding you since the start of your adventure. She’s the one who designed the game’s initial Personality Quiz.
As someone who has spent years studying ancient artifacts and their significance, I can confidently say that the Staff of Rain is no ordinary object. Much like the Sunstone, it carries a unique power and purpose that sets it apart from other functional items. In my experience, these objects often hold stories, lessons, or prophecies waiting to be uncovered by those who seek them out. I look forward to seeing what secrets this staff may reveal when handed over by the Servant of Rubiss.
She’ll also let you know that the goddess Rubiss is in urgent need. She entrusts you with finding the enchanted instrument known as the Faerie Flute, essential for not only rescuing Rubiss but also obtaining the last crucial artifact in Alefgard – the Sacred Amulet.
She’ll also inform you that the goddess Rubiss is facing a serious predicament. She assigns you with the task of retrieving the Faerie Flute, an item necessary not only for her rescue but also to claim the final key artifact in Alefgard – the Sacred Amulet.
How to Get the Sacred Amulet in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
To complete your quest, you must obtain the Sacred Amulet last. However, before reaching that point, you should first secure the Faerie Flute in the town of Kol. This step might appear minor, but it plays a crucial role in the overall process.
Find the Faerie Flute in Kol:
In the northeastern part of Alefgard lies a prominent settlement called Kol. If you navigate towards its vicinity, it won’t escape your notice. On your map, look for a conspicuous white mountain positioned in the northeast; that’s where you’ll discover Kol.
Upon reaching Kol, find the town’s map and identify the body of water situated to the north of the city center, which are the renowned hot springs. Approach the central part of the southern edge of these hot springs, then take a few steps southward. You’ll come across a glittering sign that marks an essential item hidden beneath the ground. Interact with the ground to uncover the Faerie Flute, a valuable item you’ll need later to release Rubiss when the opportunity arises.
Visit the Tower of Rubiss:
With the Faerie Flute now in your possession, you’ll likely want to journey westward towards the Tower of Rubiss. This imposing tower stands on a chain of islands situated not too far west of Kol. These islands are positioned along the northern coastline, with the tower located towards the north end of the chain. Once you’ve disembarked from your ship, navigate your way to the tower.
The colossal structure known as the Tower of Rubiss houses a substantial amount of treasure. It’s strongly recommended that you thoroughly investigate it since it includes one of the game’s strongest armor sets, the Auroral Armor. But for this guide, your goal is merely to ascend to the top of the Tower of Rubiss.
At the pinnacle, you’ll initially see a peculiar statue. As you draw nearer, it transforms into the spectral form of Baramos, an Archfiend who has come back to obstruct your path once more. This time, you will need to overcome a more challenging version of Baramos, accompanied by two Ashdemons standing guard on either side.
In the battle against both Baramos and the Ashdemons, since they are vulnerable to Zap-type spells, it would be wise for you to employ the Hero’s spells targeting them. If you happen to have Kazap in your arsenal, that would be the most effective attack to utilize.
Since Baramos is susceptible to spells based on cracking, it would be wise to accompany him with at least one additional spell-caster – ideally multiple ones for better protection.
After overcoming the spirit of Baramos, you’ll play the Faerie Flute near the unveiled statue, which turns out to be Rubiss herself. In short order, she bestows upon you the sacred charm known as the Amulet.
How to Use the Rainbow Drop in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
With the three crucial items you now possess in Alefgard, your next step is to utilize them for gaining access to Zoma’s Citadel. The detailed instructions for navigating the actual dungeon leading to the final boss’ lair will be provided in the subsequent guide. However, it is the Rainbow Drop that holds the key to reaching this destination.
As a keen explorer, I suggest heading towards the quest markers situated south of Tantegel. That’s where you’ll find the opportunity to employ the Rainbow Drop, a magical item that will enable you to construct a bridge across the water, thereby reaching Zoma’s Citadel.
