As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the Silent Hill 2 Remake has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The new ‘Stillness’ ending is just one more twist in this psychological horror masterpiece that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

The remade version of Silent Hill 2 offers eight unique endings, an increase from the six found in the initial release, and these new conclusions can be unlocked via the New Game Plus mode. One such ending is called ‘The Stillness’, which provides a distinct resolution to James’ adventure through the town. It’s intriguing that the Bloober team remains faithful to the original Silent Hill 2 while also incorporating their own creative spin in the remake.

The second section of this article contains spoilers for the Silent Hill 2 Remake Stillness ending.

How to Get the New ‘Stillness’ Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake?

How To Get The 'Stillness' Ending In Silent Hill 2 Remake

To achieve the tranquil finale in the Silent Hill 2 Remake, you need to find the Toluca Postcard in the alternate dimension of the Lakeview Hotel, which is accessible in the Otherworld.

On first glance, this seemingly unassuming postcard boasts a stunning image of the lake itself. Here’s how players can add it to their collection in the Silent Hill 2 Remake:

To gain access to the “Stillness” ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake, players must first achieve the “In Water” finale.

Pick Up Chainsaw in the New Game Plus Mode

In the enhanced version of Silent Hill 2, titled “Silent Hill 2 Remake,” the Chainsaw is a unique melee weapon that becomes accessible in the New Game+ mode. Regardless of your affinity for this specific tool, you’ll need to grab it in order to secure an essential item necessary for achieving the Stillness ending.

In the additional game mode called New Game Plus, players can discover a Chainsaw lodged in a log near Silent Hill Ranch as an early find. This is crucial because James doesn’t acquire a melee weapon until he advances to the Eastern South Vale area of Silent Hill. Therefore, the Chainsaw is necessary for breaking a car’s window to obtain a vital item.

Get the Key of Sorrow

Once you grab the Chainsaw, your next task involves locating a green automobile and shattering its windows using the Chainsaw to retrieve the Key of Sorrow. The green car containing the Key of Sorrow can be found straight ahead after passing the Silent Hill Ranch (this location is clearly marked on your map).

Advance towards the town until you catch a glimpse of the past, as you explore the barricaded tunnel where the initial deceitful figure in the original Silent Hill 2 is found. Once you pass through the gate made of chain-link, players will notice a green car positioned to the left upon exiting the tunnel.

Shatter the windows of the green vehicle until a signal appears to grab the Key of Sorrow. Once obtained, proceed with the game as usual until you reach the Otherworld variant of the Lakeview Hotel.

Unlock the Manager’s Office Safe in Otherworld Lakeview Hotel

To secure the Stillness ending in Silent Hill 2, you’ll ultimately need to obtain the Toluca Postcard from the Otherworld Lakeview Hotel. Once you’ve explored all the locations and made your way to the Otherworld version of the Lakeveiw Hotel, navigate to the Manager’s office on its first floor.

In your office, there’s a safe sitting in the room’s corner near a damaged desk. Interact with the safe and use the Key of Sorrow on it. Now, input the code 314 to open the safe. A note next to the safe, regarding 312, may serve as a hint for the safe’s combination.

Once the safe has been unlocked, the players will find the Toluca Postcard among their items. Simply examine this postcard within your inventory to proceed with the game as usual. Following the climactic battle against the final boss in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you’ll be rewarded with the ‘Tranquility’ ending.
