In Hollow Knight: Silksong, one notable difference from the original game is how Hornet executes her downward attack compared to the Knight. Rather than attacking straight down, Hornet’s downward slash takes place at a 45-degree angle, making it a more challenging technique to perfect.
For fans of the original downward slash in Hollow Knight, Silksong presents an option. Within Silksong, weapons are referred to as Crests, and each one functions uniquely. Among them, the Wanderer’s Crest comes the closest to replicating the original Hollow Knight’s moveset. Not only does it boast a quicker attack animation, but its downward slash mirrors that of the first game, making it an attractive choice for players finding the new system challenging.
It’s suggested that you activate Hornet’s quick move ability (Dash) initially, prior to trying to get the Wanderer’s Emblem, but doing so isn’t necessary.
How to Get Wanderer’s Crest in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Hollow Knight Vertical Downslash Weapon

The peak known as The Wanderer’s Crest is hidden away in the far western part of Bone Bottom, specifically in Silksong. To acquire it, venture west from Mosshome using a Simple Key to open the door, then journey through the Wormways until you reach the Chapel of the Wanderer. Once there, be prepared to face and complete a challenging gauntlet.
If you’re short on currency, Mosshome is one of the best places to farm Rosaries in Silksong.
Follow this sequential guide for unraveling the mystery behind the Wanderer’s Crest: If you have previously accessed the Mosshome Elevator, feel free to proceed directly to step 7.
Here’s a simple, sequential guide on how to get the Wanderer’s Crest: If you’ve already used the Mosshome Elevator, go ahead and jump straight to step 7.

- Purchase a Simple Key from Pebb in Bone Bottom for 500 Rosaries.
- Turn left and continue straight until you reach a platform with a lever. Activate it to unlock the trapdoor underneath.
- Drop down until you reach a locked Elevator. Pull the lever nearby to connect it to Bone Bottom.
- Ride the Elevator down and rest at the bench to update your respawn point.
- Here, avoid the two sandworms falling from the ceiling to find a hole in the ground you can drop into.
- The Wanderer’s Crest is located inside the Chapel of the Wanderer, guarded by a room full of enemies.

Head toward Mosshome by climbing up through The Marrow.

Descend through the trapdoor and move left.

Use the Elevator again to return to the upper platforms.

Cross the chasm using the two suspended cages. You can reach them by using Swift Step mid-jump or by pogoing nearby flying enemies.

Continue left and carefully avoid the acid from the enemy in the next chamber. Use the stone platforms as cover.

Use the Simple Key to unlock the door, revealing the path to the Wormways.

Drop into the pit and follow the tunnel system down until you eventually find yourself on a ledge in a mossy green area.

Drop all the way down to the bottom.

On the right is an unlockable shortcut that leads back to the main Bone Bottom area, whereas to the left is a dilapidated hut called the Chapel of the Wanderer.

Capture the adversaries and secure the crest from the last room. Once defeated, Hornet will naturally adopt the Wanderer’s Crest. In order to alter, modify, or enhance your crest, you’ll need to take a break at a resting spot.
