How to Get to Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2

The enigmatic Bloodmoon Island lies up north from Reaper’s Coast. Surrounded by a misty Deathfog veil that blankets the ocean, this isolated island can no longer be accessed via the broken bridge linking it to the mainland. However, delving into the mysteries of Bloodmoon Island deepens the core storyline and opens up new opportunities for side quests.

Instead of offering enough guidance, the game leaves you puzzled about how to traverse the Deathfog and set foot on Bloodmoon Island, leading you to scour Repear’s Coast for possible hints. Here are some methods to get to Bloodmoon Island and advance the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

It seems that Bloodmoon Island was once linked to Repear’s Coast by a bridge, which has since been destroyed, making it inaccessible. The bridge to Bloodmoon Island is situated northeast of Cloisterwood. Moreover, it lies near the positions of Jahan and Witch Alice.

After reaching the bridge, you’ll come across the Driftwood Fields waypoint too. To help navigate through the broken parts of the bridge, use your Spirit Vision ability. The bridge has been divided into several sections, some of which are trapped, making it somewhat difficult to cross. However, if you possess certain skills or items, crossing this spirit bridge should pose no issue for you.

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: The Gloves of Teleportation can be acquired in the first act of the game, and it allows you to cast the teleportation skill without having to learn it. While tedious, you can use the Gloves of Teleportation to teleport each companion across the bridge.
  2. Translocation Skills: Certain skills in the game, like Pheonix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat, allow you to translocate/teleport, which is incredibly useful when traversing the broken bridge. However, the limitation of this method is that not all companions in your party might be capable of casting these skills, which is where the next tip could prove valuable.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game also includes four Teleporter Pyramids, which are special artifacts used to warp from one pyramid to the other. You’ll require two Teleporter Pyramids to cross the bridge leading to Bloodmoon Island. Put one pyramid in one of your companion’s inventory and let them cross the bridge using translocation skills. Once they’ve made it to the other side of the bridge, the rest of the party can warp to the companion’s location.
  4. Fast Travel: Additionally, you can use a companion with a translocation skill to cross the bridge and discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint. Then, the rest of the party can fast travel to it without needing to cross the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

Apart from the mentioned methods, parties including Fane as a companion have an exclusive way to reach Bloodmoon Island. Since Fane is undead, he’s immune to the Deathfog, which makes him the sole character capable of traversing it safely.

To the northwest of Cloisterwood lies a pier where an undead ferryman resides. He seems willing to assist your group in crossing the Deathfog and reaching Bloodmoon Island, but beware – this is more a deception than a genuine offer. If everyone except Fane boards the ferry, they’ll likely perish during the journey across the Deathfog. However, Fane can safely reach Bloodmoon Island by taking the ferry alone. Afterward, you can find the waypoint for Bloodmoon Island and allow the rest of your party to quickly travel there.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If Fane is absent from your group and you’d like to board the ferry across the Deathfog, then it’s essential to make use of the Teleporter Pyramids. To pull this off, ensure you possess a minimum of two Teleporter Pyramids.

  1. Unchain the party and put a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of a companion who would be taking the ferry.
  2. Once the companion takes the ferry, they’ll end up dead on Bloodmoon Island’s pier.
  3. With the rest of the party chained, use the second teleporter pyramid to warp to the dead companion.
  4. Cast a resurrection spell or use a scroll to revive the dead companion and bring them back into action.

If Fane isn’t part of your group, taking the bridge is suggested since it’s the most expedient route to Bloodmoon Island.

Avoid attacking the Ferryman of the Undead, for he possesses the power to unleash a Deathfog spell that instantly kills anyone within its vicinity. If you feel brave enough to test your luck, remember to save your game first before striking him. Successfully subduing and looting him rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
