How to Get to the Vox Relay in Outer Worlds 2 (Cross the Protectorate Bridge)

As you explore Paradise Island in Outer Worlds 2, you’ll eventually find a large bridge north of Fairfield, guarded by the Protectorate. There are several ways to cross this bridge, but you can also find alternate routes to the northern part of the island that bypass it completely.

There are six different ways to get across the Protectorate Bridge in Outer Worlds 2. You can align with Auntie’s Choice in two of them, with the Protectorate in two others, or take less direct routes well to the west and east of the bridge. While you can try to force your way across, it’s risky and saving your game beforehand is a good idea.

All Methods to Cross The Protectorate Bridge in Outer Worlds 2

How to Get to the Vox Relay & North Island on Paradise

There are six main ways to reach the north side of Paradise Island. How you choose to travel often depends on who you support – Auntie’s Choice, the Protectorate, or if you’d rather stay neutral. Each option involves different ways to cross the Protectorate Bridge.

  • If you don’t mind working with Auntie’s Choice, choose to work with either Kaur or Milverstreet or meet up with Commander Torres in the camp just south of the bridge to charge it alongside Auntie’s Choice forces.
  • If you would rather work with the Protectorate, talk to the bridge guard and learn her request to pass, or befriend Vigilant Hogarth in Westport to get a Writ of Conscription to gain passage through (and into the Vox Relay main entrance)
  • If you don’t want to work with either Auntie’s Choice or the Protectorate, there are two hidden paths onto the North island of Paradise to the far east and far west of the bridge.

Side with Kaur or Milverstreet to Expand Auntie’s Choice Influence

  • Location: Central Auntie’s Choice Corporate Building in Fairfield

When you first arrive in Fairfield, look for the large building under the huge holographic sign for Auntie Cleo. Inside, you’ll find Minister Milverstreet and Kaur, two important people from Auntie’s Choice, who have different ideas about how to deal with the Protectorate forces in the area.

Milverstreet prefers to win over the people of Westport to support Auntie’s Choice, while Kaur would rather decisively defeat the Protectorate’s army at the Auto-Mech Repair facility.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited about how Outer Worlds 2 lets you choose who to work with! It looks like depending on which character you side with, you’ll get a unique questline to get you across the Protectorate Bridge and to the Vox Relay. I’ve heard that if you help Milverstreet, it connects to Vigilant Hogarth’s story about conscription, but if you go with Kaur, it’s all tied into Commander Torres leading the charge on the front lines. It’s awesome that choices matter so much!

Charge The Bridge with Commander Torres

  • Location: Auntie’s Choice Camp, North of Fairfield

Just north of Fairfield and south of the Protectorate Bridge, players of Outer Worlds 2 will discover Auntie’s Choice Forward Operating Base, a key location where Auntie’s forces are defending against the Protectorate. Speaking with Commander Torres will reveal that a soldier recently went missing with the group’s mascot—a small doll called Scrabbles—and tragically died in a minefield.

Locate the Scrabbles, then go back to Commander Torres and persuade him to attack the bridge. Team up with Auntie’s Choice and defeat all the Protectorate soldiers nearby. Once the fighting is over, lower the bridge from the control room.

Earn Vigilant Hogarth’s Trust & His Writ of Conscription

  • Location: Westport, in Northwest Paradise

Travel to Westport, located in the far northeast of Paradise’s southern island, and enter the main hall. You’ll find Vigilant Hogarth on the balcony at the back – he’s in charge of Westport, which has fallen into disrepair. A recent attack by Auntie’s Choice destroyed the sea wall, causing widespread flooding and endangering the people living there.

Speak with Hogarth and assist him in fixing up essential parts of Westport to help the settlers stay alive. Doing so will gain his trust. Then, ask him about reaching the Vox Relay, and he’ll give you a Writ of Conscription, which will let you pass the bridge and enter the main entrance of the Vox Relay.

Working with Minister Milverstreet will ultimately send you to Westport. As part of this assignment, you’ll need to earn the trust of Vigilant Hogarth – but eventually, you’ll be tasked with sabotaging Westport, causing him and the people he protects to escape to Fairfield.

Find Charlton Weintraut and Ida Rutledge For Protectorate Judgement

  • Locations: Westport (Charlton) and southeast of Fairfield (Ida)

Go to the Protectorate Bridge and speak with Senior Warden Weintraut outside. Be friendly in your conversation, and she’ll ask for your help. She’ll let you pass if you can find two people – Charlton Weintraut and Ida Rutledge – so they can be judged.

  1. Charlton Weintraut can be found in Westport. Look for his house in the flooded area to the north to find out that he has a severe addiction to Purpleberry Crunch. Find Charlton in the central square of Westport and convince him to go to the Protectorate bridge.
  2. Head to the southeast of Fairfield to find two workers stuck in a lift above the Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove. They will inform you that Ida died after she fell into the machinery nearby. Pick up her severed arm and bring it back to the bridge guard as proof of her death.

An Alternate Crossing to the West….

  • Location: A Bridge North of Skycutter Station, West Side of Paradise

The Skycutter Power Plant is located west (and a little north) of the Protectorate Bridge. You can reach it by jumping across the gap in the bridge. From there, you can explore the Skycutter area, or continue north to access the northern part of Paradise without needing to cross the Protectorate Bridge.

…and an Alternate Crossing to the East

  • Location: Northwest of Westport, Look For A Path Across The Water

Okay, so if you head way east of the Protectorate bridge, just a little northwest of Westport, you’ll spot a bunch of half-submerged rocks and debris leading up to the northern island. It’s a bit of a climb down the cliff face, but if you’ve got those Protectorate jump boots, you can use them to hop across the wreckage and get to the north island without ever touching the bridge. It’s a cool shortcut, honestly!

Even if you’ve already reached the north island, unlocking this path is still worthwhile. It provides a direct, hidden route to the Vox Relay using a secret elevator.
