During your adventures across the realm of Skyrim, the Dragonborn has the opportunity to discover a variety of weapons. Although many are ordinary items, some boast unique names and special attributes. In this walkthrough, we’ll show you how to acquire Soulrender and Bloodscythe in Skyrim.
While traipsing through the territories of Skyrim as the Dragonborn, you can come across an assortment of weapons. Most are everyday items, but select few possess distinctive names and powers. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate how to obtain Soulrender and Bloodscythe in the game Skyrim.
These two items are both scimitar-shaped weapons. They look much like any other scimitars of their kind. Yet, what sets them apart is that when used in tandem, they trigger exceptional magical abilities. However, locating them requires discovering who their rightful possessor is first.
Where to Find Soulrender and Bloodscythe
In the game Skyrim, these unique weapons can only be discovered once, and they’re exclusively found on Solstheim Island. This island hides many old secrets. To obtain Soulrender and Bloodscythe, you must first complete the Deathbrand quest.
Deathbrand is activated when you fulfill one of the following conditions:
- Find and read the Deathbrand book.
- Kill pirates and check the ancient chest in Haknir’s Shoal.
Keep in mind that for these techniques to apply, players need to have reached level 36 or above. If your character’s level is below this threshold, you won’t be able to embark on the quest.
Afterward, search thoroughly through Solstheim for the four segments of Deathbrand armor. Additionally, as you progress, you’ll come across the final gear and the key to Gyldenhul Barrow. Remember to pack the old Nordic pickaxe, as you’ll encounter Stalhrim obstructing your path, making it necessary for mining.
As you delve further into the Gyldenhul Barrow dungeon in Skyrim, you’ll stumble upon a burial site housing Haknir Death-Brand’s remains and the distinctive Bloodscythe, your first unique scimitar. However, be warned that once you loot this area, the specter of Haknir Death-Brand will manifest. This fight can be challenging, as he has the ability to summon pirate companions at random intervals. Yet, it’s essential to defeat him, for he drops the Soulrender scimitar as a reward.
Soulrender and Bloodscythe Ability

As a gamer immersed in Skyrim, I’ve found that Soulrender and Bloodscythe, on their own, are merely decent scimitars with stats slightly superior to others of their kind. However, when I brandish them together, I unlock their extraordinary abilities, enhancing my gaming experience significantly.
- Soulrend – When wielded with Bloodscythe, the weapon absorbs 15 magicka and, with some chance, reduces the target’s magic defense.
- Bloodscythe – When wielded with Soulrender, the weapon absorbs 15 health and has a chance to absorb the target’s armor.
