The latest update to Enshrouded, called Wake of the Waters, adds a lot of exciting new things to do! The biggest addition is the Veilwater Basin, a brand new tropical area, and with it comes the ability to fish. Fishing in Enshrouded is a fun and useful activity – you can catch rare fish, cook special food, or just relax. This guide will teach you everything you need to know about fishing in the game.

How to Fish in Enshrouded

You can fish in almost any water, but you’ll increase your chances of success by looking for areas with ripples and circular waves on the surface. These spots usually mean there are plenty of fish nearby. Once you’ve found a good place to fish, just follow these simple steps:

  • Equip your fishing rod from your inventory.
  • Select your fishing bait, depending on the rarity of the fish you want to catch.
  • Left-click while holding the fishing rod to cast your line. A power bar will appear that indicates how far you can throw. Release the click when the bar fills to your desired casting distance.
  • Wait patiently for a fish to bite.
  • When the fish bites, left-click again to reel it in. Stronger fish will resist more, so timing and persistence matter.
  • Once caught, an animation will show the type of fish you’ve landed.
  • Press E to collect the fish or right-click to release it if you don’t want it.

How to Get & Use Fishing Rod & Bait in Enshrouded

Okay, so if you want to start fishing, you’ll need a fishing rod first. I opened up the Craft menu and made a Simple Fishing Rod – it only took 2 Twigs, 2 Metal Scraps, and a String. It’s a good way to get started, and as I play more, I’ll unlock better rods that’ll make fishing way easier!

Once you have a fishing pole in Enshrouded, you’ll need Fishing Bait to actually catch fish. Different baits work best in different areas and for catching rarer types of fish. To make bait, you’ll need to gather small creatures like insects and frogs from across Embervale. Then, you can use those materials to craft the bait recipes you need.

As you explore the Veilwater Basin at the beginning of the game, you’ll learn how to make Fishing Bait by finishing quests given by Hunter and Fisher.

To unlock Hunter’s Fishing Bait recipes, finish the “Unknown Waters” quest. Completing it will give you a Simple Fishing Rod and the recipe for Simple Fishing Bait, both of which you can then make whenever you like through the Crafting Menu.

To get the best fishing bait, finish the “Nice Day for Fishing” quest given by the Fisher. Completing it will reward you with an Excellent Fishing Rod and unlock recipes for all bait types – Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic.
