The powerful Legendary Pokemon, Zygarde, will play a key role in the story of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, you won’t be able to add it to your team until after the main story is finished, once the credits have rolled. You’ll also need to complete two separate missions first. Here’s a guide on how to catch Zygarde and understand its three different forms.
How to Get Zygarde in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To Keep the World in Balance
Before you can start hunting, you first need to play through the Infinity Z-A Royale at least once. This becomes available after you finish the main game. Once you’ve defeated Zach in the final battle, Lida will call and ask you to go to Hotel Z.
Once you’ve talked to the group, you’ll receive two new main quests: “The One That Gives” and “The One That Takes.” Completing these quests will lead you to a battle with Xerneas and Yveltal, the legendary Pokémon from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Once you’ve finished both missions and captured the two targets, head back to Hotel Z. As you approach the entrance, L will challenge you to a battle.
L’s team consists of the following Pokemon…

(Mega) |
After you win the battle against him, he’ll tell you that Zygarde is located beneath Prism Tower in Wild Zone 20. Go and interact with the legendary Pokémon to begin a challenging fight.
Zygarde appears in three different forms, and you must defeat each one before you can catch it. It’s a Dragon and Ground type Pokémon, meaning it’s especially vulnerable to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon attacks, so build your team accordingly! Be warned: if you lose the final battle, you’ll have to start the whole thing over from the beginning.
How to Change Zygarde’s Form in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Use the Zygarde Cube
Once you’ve caught Zygarde, you’ll receive the Zygarde Cube from L. This item allows you to transform Zygarde into its different forms in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Zygarde has three main forms: 10%, 50%, and Complete. The special cube allows you to switch between the 10% and 50% forms. To achieve its powerful Complete form, you need to reduce Zygarde’s health to 50% during battle, which also boosts its stats. Importantly, Zygarde can only Mega Evolve while in its Complete form, and its signature move, Core Enforcer, transforms into Nihil Light.
