Similar to the original Code Vein, you can build relationships with your partners in the sequel. There’s even a reward – a trophy or achievement – for maxing out your bond with at least one of them.
While it seems straightforward, this task is surprisingly challenging and takes a lot of time. The biggest difficulty is that the game doesn’t clearly show how well your relationships are developing – there’s no progress bar or counter. Despite this, there is a way to track your progress in building bonds within Code Vein 2.
How To Increase Affinity With A Partner In Code Vein 2

In Code Vein 2, there are three primary ways to build your relationship – or affinity – with a partner:
- Method 1: Exploring the map normally, defeating enemies, collecting items, and opening chests.
- Method 2: Completing main missions and, when available, side missions. Some characters have their own questlines, and finishing these is mandatory to reach maximum affinity.
- Method 3: Giving gifts. Food items also count as gifts and help increase affinity with a partner.
Things become a little trickier now. There’s a limit to how much progress you can make with any single action. For instance, if you only give gifts to a character, you won’t be able to maximize your relationship with them.
It’s best to concentrate on building relationships with just a few allies throughout the game to maximize their affinity. For the Past Era, we suggest Josée or Holly, as they both have long questlines and are strong fighters. In the Present Era, Noah or Iris are good choices, as they each have unique quests to complete.
Make sure to pick up everything you find, beat all the enemies, and open every chest. Building up a strong relationship with characters takes a significant amount of time.
How Long To Reach Max Affinity In Code Vein 2
TopMob earned the trophy after 52 hours of play and after completing all three endings of the game.
If it wasn’t clear, it may take a while!
How To Check Affinity Progress In Code Vein 2
You’re getting close to fully bonding with a character when you can unlock their special weapon in the menu. This is a good way to see how much progress you’ve made.
Honestly, the most frustrating thing about maxing out your relationship with a character is that the game doesn’t really tell you how close you are! There’s no handy little meter or anything, so you’re just kinda guessing if you’re making progress or not. It’s a real pain.
You can earn rewards by building relationships with characters. These rewards are available in a special shop, and new items are added as your relationships grow, so be sure to check it often.
How To Speed Up Maximum Affinity In Code Vein 2
To build relationships faster, you can gather cooking ingredients and make a variety of dishes using the item synthesis menu. Plus, characters like Josée, Holly, and Noah offer simple recipes you can learn.
This small trick can save you several hours.
To make gathering resources much faster, look for Jadwiga’s Minions all over the map—particularly the one located in the village just before you get to the Sunken City—and buy things like Eggs from them.

Hey everyone, I’m really curious what you all think about how much work it takes to get parrying unlocked in Code Vein 2. It feels pretty challenging! Let’s chat about it over on the official TopMob Discord – I’d love to hear your opinions and strategies!
