In StarRupture, building your base core is one of the first things you’ll do. It’s the central hub of your base and shields everything from the intense heat waves on Arcadia-7. As you expand, you’ll need to upgrade the core’s capacity to prevent overheating and total base destruction during these heat waves. But upgrading isn’t without its challenges. This guide will cover everything you need to know about increasing your base core capacity in StarRupture, and what to anticipate when you do.
How to Increase Base Core Capacity in StarRupture
To make your base core stronger, go up to it and press the ‘E’ key to open the upgrade menu. This will show you what materials you need. For instance, upgrading to level 2 requires certain items, such as:
- 30 Meteor Hearts
- 7,200 Helium
- 1,800 Ceramics
- 10 Ignitium
You won’t get these resources quickly, and Helium and Ceramics take time to start making. To get the most out of production, you’ll need to build several bases around Arcadia-7.
If you can’t fully upgrade your base core right now, you can use ‘Base Core Amplifiers’ for a smaller boost in capacity. You unlock the v.1 Amplifier at level 6 and the v.2 Amplifier at level 9 through the Moon Energy Corporation.
A Base Core Amplifier boosts the capacity of all Base Cores nearby. This lets you potentially build one or two extra structures at each base, depending on how full their capacity already is.
What Does Increasing Base Core Capacity Do?
As a big fan of building up my bases, I’ve found that increasing the base core capacity is a total game-changer. Basically, it lets your base handle more heat and cool down way quicker after those Ruptures happen. This is awesome because it means I can run a lot more structures and machines at once, which really speeds up completing Corporation missions. Plus, after a Rupture, getting everything back online is so much faster – it’s a huge time saver!
Upgrading your base core isn’t without risk. The alien creatures on the planet, known as Vermin, will start attacking your base more often as a result. Before you upgrade, be sure to unlock and build Turrets to improve your defenses. If the blue Vermin manage to get inside your base and explode, they can infect it, making it unusable until the infection is cleared. Dealing with a few Vermin isn’t hard, but it becomes very challenging when your base is under massive attack.
