How to Increase Infection Resistance in StarRupture

When I first started playing StarRupture, the Vermin aliens weren’t a huge problem. I’d see them around Arcadia-7 or at old outposts, but they mostly kept to themselves. But as I built up my base and started getting further into the game, they became way more aggressive! That means you’re at a much higher risk of getting infected, which is bad news because it shuts down your shield and you start taking damage directly. So, I quickly learned that boosting your infection resistance is super important in StarRupture if you want to survive those big swarms of Vermin!

How to Increase Infection Resistance in StarRupture

You can temporarily boost your ability to fight off infections by making an Infection Resistance Plasma. Drinking it will double your infection resistance for 10 minutes.

To craft Infection Res Plasm, you first need to unlock the recipe at the Recipe Station. You can only do this after discovering Glowcaps.

Glowcaps grow exclusively in underground caves. Getting to them can be tricky, as the entrance is usually blocked by roots for most of the time between volcanic eruptions. You need to visit a cave entrance shortly after an eruption, while the ground is still covered in ash, to find an opening. Once inside, you can harvest the large, glowing green mushrooms to collect Glowcaps.

To be able to craft Infection Resistance Plasma at your Food Station, you’ll need to gather 40 Glowcaps, 25 Prism Herbs, and 100 Data Points.

After unlocking the recipe, you can make Infection Res Plasm at the Food Station using 3 Glowcaps and 2 Prism Herbs. You unlock the Food Station by reaching level 6 with Future Health Solutions. Look for Prism Herbs near water – they’re a purplish-blue color.

If you plan on making a variety of resistance plasms to protect against things like infection, corrosion, heat, and drain damage, remember to always gather Glowcaps whenever a rupture occurs. These plasms require Glowcaps to craft, and they can only be found in underground caves.

If you create an Infection Res Plasm, you can use it from your inventory. For the next 10 minutes, it will slow down how quickly you gain infection when exposed to it. Be aware that it also adds 40 Toxicity, which you’ll need to keep an eye on, as high Toxicity can disrupt your hunger and thirst levels. You can lower Toxicity by using Purplants, but eating them (or food made with them) will remove any temporary benefits you’ve gained from other consumables.
