The introduction of Momo, my adorable Inkpet companion, has added an element of warmth and strategy to this otherwise challenging game.
Realm of Ink doesn’t immediately plunge players into the harshness of a roguelike game, where combat starts right away. Although it does, in essence, it provides players with a friendly companion to cushion the impact and make their journey smoother and less challenging.
As a gamer, I find myself often taking on the enigmatic role of Momo, my trusty Inkpet companion. This character’s form changes based on the Ink Gems I carry, each gem bestowing unique abilities upon me. The common and special skills associated with each form are unlocked according to the gems I possess, adding an extra layer of strategy to my gameplay experience.
What Do Inkpet Skills Do In Realm of Ink
In the realm of Ink, there exist two categories of Inkpet Skills: ordinary and exceptional abilities. Ordinary skills function automatically, while exceptional skills can be triggered by the player. As a character grows in strength throughout their adventure, so does their Inkpet, acquiring these skills.
The appearance of your Inkpet is determined by the blend of ink gems you possess in your inventory. As soon as you acquire two ink gems, their passive abilities become accessible, but the unique skills remain locked until you enhance the gems to a specific level. Normally, these special skills are activated by pressing “1” and will be displayed beside the player’s health bar at the bottom of the screen.
How to Unlock The Special Inkpet Skill in Realm of Ink
To activate the unique Inkpet ability (which can be triggered by pressing “1”), you’ll need to advance to a higher rank for your Inkpet. This can be achieved by enhancing both of your ink gems with ink stones, ensuring that either both are epic or one is legendary and the other is rare. Upon meeting these requirements, your Inkpet will attain the necessary level, thereby unlocking its active skill.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that upgrading a rare stone to epic costs me 80 Ink Stones, while upgrading a rare ink gem to legendary requires 160 Stones. Interestingly enough, it takes the same total amount of stones – whether it’s 160 for two epic stones or 160 for one legendary stone.
To improve your ink gems, you should engage with Grace, the Ink Gem Expert, and utilize the ink stones you’ve diligently accumulated. You can find her in the area that serves as a shop, which becomes accessible just prior to every boss encounter. Please note that the upgraded ink gems do not carry over between games; they are destroyed upon your character’s demise and return to the hub world.
