Even with your inhaler for quick health recovery, enemies in The Outer Worlds 2 will become increasingly powerful, capable of dealing significant damage with each attack. To survive, you’ll need to increase your maximum health. This guide details all the ways to boost your health, allowing you to withstand more damage and avoid dying quickly.
Every Way to Increase Max Health in The Outer Worlds 2
In The Outer Worlds 2, you can boost your maximum health in three ways: by gaining levels, finding and equipping special armor and headgear, or unlocking particular perks. Here’s a closer look at each method.
Leveling Up
Leveling up automatically increases your maximum health by a noticeable amount. The increase changes at each level, but generally, the stronger you become, the more damage you can withstand. If you don’t want to increase your health through other methods, leveling up is a reliable way to do it.
Perks
So, I’ve been checking out the perks in The Outer Worlds 2, and there are a lot to pick from, letting you really build your character how you want. But if you’re like me and want to be able to take a beating, there are two perks that really caught my eye – they’re perfect for boosting your health and letting you soak up damage.
- Bulletshield: Add +10% to your base health, and 10% damage resistance.
- Serial Killer: +2 max health every time you kill a human and collect their heart. The chance of a human dropping a heart is 100% if an enemy wasn’t hostile before being killed.
The Serial Killer perk needs you to first unlock the Psychopath perk. That makes logical sense, considering the nature of being a serial killer.
Using these two perks together will significantly increase your character’s survivability, effectively turning them into a durable tank. The Serial Killer perk is especially effective at maximizing health, rivaling the benefits of leveling up.
Equipping Armor and Headgear
Armor and helmets don’t just offer protection; some also give your character special benefits when worn. These benefits can include a simple increase to your health, like a helmet I found that boosted my health by 5%, or even more significant improvements – another helmet increased my health by 15% and also made me more resistant to damage.
Regularly check your armor and helmet to ensure you have the best equipment. Remember, the strongest gear isn’t always about having the highest defense – sometimes, items with helpful bonuses are more effective.
