How To Inherit More Skills In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned gamer with decades of RPG experience under my belt, I must say that Metaphor: ReFantazio has truly outdone itself when it comes to character customization. The Skill Inheritance system is a game-changer, allowing players like myself to experiment and craft the perfect party composition without being confined by traditional class systems.

In the imaginative world of ReFantazio, each party member has the flexibility to adopt any role or Archetype, providing a vast array of options for players when constructing their team. Each unique Archetype can be independently leveled up, granting new abilities or passive benefits during battles.

As a gamer, I find it fascinating that with Skill Inheritance, I can essentially pass down abilities from one character type to another, breaking the conventional barriers of what each archetype is capable of learning. Here’s a breakdown of how this system works and tips on enhancing the number of skills I can transfer onto an Archetype:

How To Use Skill Inheritance In Metaphor: ReFantazio

At Akademia, the process is called Skill Transfer. When interacting with More, this option is located near the top. After selecting a character, you can opt for one of their specific Archetypes to pass a skill onto your own. Note that an acquired skill requires an extra slot and doesn’t replace or modify any skills the Archetype already possesses or will learn by default.

Once you decide on your preferred Archetype for acquiring a skill, you’ll receive a list of options to pick from. Each skill comes with a different cost in MAG, based on its power level.

Passive Skills usually cost the most but can still be inherited.

As a player, I find it intriguing that the assortment of skills available for selection are essentially the additional abilities mastered by any other character’s Archetype. This added incentive encourages me to experiment with or at least progress other character classes, as there might be instances where leveling up an Archetype is beneficial solely to acquire a single skill that can later be inherited.

  • Skills purchased to be inherited do carry over between Archetypes for individual characters.
  • Inherited skills can be switched anytime at Akademia.
  • Skills only need to be purchased once, even if they are later unequipped and re-equipped.

How To Get More Skill Inheritance Slots In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The number of abilities an Archetype can acquire is dependent on the specific Archetype you’ve equipped. As your bond with that follower strengthens (as indicated by level increases), you will gain extra Skill Inheritance slots for that particular Archetype’s branch approximately every few levels. Initially, each Archetype starts with one Skill Inheritance slot, and through progression, they can potentially possess up to four. However, it’s important to note that some Archetypes have limitations due to their connection to the game’s storyline; for instance, characters like the Gunner are tied to story advancement, while others can be leveled up more frequently, especially early in the game.
