In the game Crimson Desert, players can find a rare fish called the Golden Carp. You can find it in a pond north of Pailune. Like other fish, you can eat it or use it in cooking. But the Golden Carp is special because it instantly tames any cat in the game! If you’re hoping to add a feline companion to your collection, or just want to complete your legendary animal hunt, here’s how to find and catch the Golden Carp.

Crimson Desert Golden Carp Location

You can find the Golden Carp far north of Hernand, in a small pond directly below the letter ‘P’ in ‘Pailune’ on the map. It’s easy to spot because the Golden Carp is very distinct and stands out from the other, smaller fish when viewed from above.

Near this pond lives a special, legendary horse named Royler. If you’re collecting all the legendary creatures in Crimson Desert, be careful not to scare him! You can identify Royler by his white coat and golden legs.

To catch the Golden Carp in Crimson Desert, the easiest method is to jump down and grab it. Use higher ground or jump from a tree, then glide over to the fish while it’s swimming. Landing directly on top lets you catch it by hand, without needing a fishing rod.

How to Use the Golden Carp in Crimson Desert

As we discussed, you can use the Golden Carp either as food or to quickly befriend any cat. You can build trust with animals by simply dropping food near them. To tame a cat with the Golden Carp, first pet it, then discard the fish from your inventory. If the cat eats the fish, it will instantly become your pet!
