How to Kill Philo Beck with a Rat Bomb in Sniper Elite Resistance—Kill Challenge Explained

1. First, remove the training wheels from Sniper Elite Resistance by disabling its stabilizers.

2. Then, jump into the game world and take on Mission 2’s Kill Challenge, a mission that is more suitable for players with some experience under their belt.

3. If you follow my advice carefully, you should be able to craft a Rat Bomb and complete this challenge before the Germans even notice!

In your initial attempt at neutralizing the targets from Kill List, it’s probably a fatal bullet to the head that awaits you. However, Sniper Elite Resistance offers numerous playgrounds for strategizing and plotting. The missions in this game provide distinct methods for eliminating targets, some of which come with attractive rewards. In Mission 2, known as Dead Drop, you’ll need to stealthily navigate a German-infested town riddled with infection.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but acknowledge that Philo Beck, one of the game’s formidable adversaries, is on my hit list. The creative minds at Rebellion have devised an intriguing strategy for taking him down: the Rat Bomb. Yes, you read it right – a bomb shaped like a rat! This isn’t your ordinary household pet; it’s designed to wreak havoc upon impact. It’s going to be quite the thrill to unleash this furry fury and watch Philo Beck meet his end!

How To Get Rat Bomb in Sniper Elite Resistance Mission 2 Dead Drop

To get the Rat Bomb, you can find it either in the Workbench area or at the start of the level. Keep in mind that this search is based on the standard starting point.

Workbench Rat Bomb

I’ll walk you through the different Rat Bomb methods available in Sniper Elite Resistance. You can choose the one that suits your playstyle best.

  1. Head into Mission 2 Dead Drop—it can be on any difficulty setting.
  2. In this walkthrough, we’re using the Citadel Apartments Starting Location (but you can get here from any starting point).
  3. Use our Mission 2 Dead Drop Workbench guide and make your way to the room featuring Workbench Location 3.
  4. Break into the room using either a Pick or Bolt Cutters.
  5. Enter the room, and look to the right-hand side of the area.
  6. You should see a table with a French resistance flag behind it.
  7. The Rat Bomb is on the table to claim.

West Gate Rat Bomb

See if the second strategy suits you best:

  1. Choose Dead Drop as your mission, and select West Gate as the Starting Location.
  2. Spawn in and follow the natural path ahead.
  3. You should eventually see a barn.
  4. Go to it instead of heading to the main part of the level.
  5. Climb up the ladder inside.
  6. The Rat Bomb is at the top of the ladder, so take it and we can move on.

How To Use Rat Bomb and Kill Philo Beck in Mission 2 Dead Drop

Go to the structure I’ve highlighted with a red circle. You will find a white design on it, probably behind the bar, where you can strategize the Rat Bomb.

Regardless of the specific Rat Bomb you come across in Sniper Elite Resistance, the latter portion of this guide follows the same pattern.

  1. After you grab the Rat Bomb, go to the building with the red circle in the screenshot above.
  2. Philo Beck isn’t in here, but he is patrolling the area.
  3. Head behind the bar area—remember to keep quiet and not alert Philo Beck or anyone else.
  4. Look on the floor to see a rat outline saying Plant Rat Bomb.
  5. Do this, and move into the room behind the Rat Bomb’s location.
  6. Philo Beck enters the building, and you need to draw his attention to your location to make him walk behind the bar to the bomb.
  7. I recommend throwing a bottle at the rat once he’s inside as it’s nice and easy to use, they’re everywhere, and it makes a lot of noise.
  8. Wait for Beck to be within touching distance of the Rat Bomb and shoot it to make it explode and complete the challenge.
  9. If he wasn’t close enough, or it doesn’t work, repeat every step in this guide until it works.

On Dead Drop, don’t forget to explore the spot where the Propaganda Poster is placed. Additionally, mark the method of eliminating Schoene using a Coal Torpedo, since it’s another challenging objective you might want to prepare for.

Is Sniper Elite Resistance meeting the expectations set by its past versions, or are you finding the creative and open-ended gameplay that Rebellion’s latest installment offers enjoyable?
