As a Minecraft gamer, I’ve been thrilled by the recent inclusion of friendly Ghasts in the latest experimental versions! These happy Ghasts have sparked some amazing building ideas and one simple-to-recreate build lets us launch ourselves and our Ghast buddies into the sky in no time. This new mob has become a favorite among creative Minecraft builders because it essentially functions as a mobile flying platform, making it so much easier for players to work on even the most colossal builds.
In Minecraft’s preliminary releases so far, the cheerful ghasts have garnered a lot of attention from fans since their unveiling at Minecraft LIVE earlier this year. Given their name, it’s no surprise that they are a friendly version of the usual ghast, even allowing players to saddle them for flight across their game worlds. Similar to their hostile counterparts, happy ghasts aren’t found in the Overworld naturally; instead, players must first discover them as dried ghast blocks, which spawn spontaneously in the Nether. Although dried ghast blocks can also be crafted, they will still need to be transported back to the Overworld and submerged in water for hydration before transforming into cute baby ghastlings.
In Minecraft, Ghastlings can be made to mature into adult happy ghasts by feeding them snowballs. These grown-up ghasts can then be ridden by players for swift travel. A player called Srlorenez has come up with a straightforward launcher device that is easy to construct using only a few components. This launcher setup necessitates arranging four dispensers in a 3-block deep, 1×1 pit, with each dispenser facing towards the center of the hole. Each dispenser needs to be filled with wind charges, which are set off when the player jumps into the hole and triggers the pressure plate at its base.
How This Minecraft Mob Launcher Works
To ride a new Minecraft mob, players should step onto the device and simultaneously press down on a pressure plate, all while keeping hold of the leash attached to the mob. This action will send them soaring into the sky. To ensure a safe ascent, make sure the 3-block deep pit is filled with water, which helps slow the player upon launch and prevents the leash from snapping when they reach their peak height (the happy ghast).
Besides serving as an entertaining feature in players’ game environments, this device can also be quite practical when positioned at the base of a massive structure under construction. Players can easily navigate back to the ground, gather building materials from chests, and then swiftly ascend to their friendly ghast companion to continue working on their project. It’s certainly one of the less harmful ways players have devised using friendly ghasts in Minecraft.
