Grab your cooking tools: it is time to embark on a long gourmand journey.

How Does Cooking Work In New World: Aeternum?

In the new world of Aeternum, we’ve tweaked the Cooking system slightly, focusing mainly on recipe functionality. If you’re a returning player, this mechanic should feel familiar to you. To get started with Cooking, simply use the Camp feature. For PC players, just hit the Y key on your keyboard. Players using controllers can open a radial menu by holding the UP button on their D-pad, then select the Camp Feature from there.

That will grant them access to basic recipes such as Rations, Pots, and Bait, which will vary from Tier 1 to 5 depending on their camp level. But to start cooking for real, players will need a Cooking Station, which is found in Settlements.

At each Cooking Station, development progresses from level 1 to a maximum of level 5. This advancement depends on the expansion pace of the settlement and the investment made by the ruling Guild in Town Projects. Upon reaching a Cooking Station, players can access the crafting menu by pressing E (on PC), Triangle (for PS5 users), or X (for Xbox players). The crafting menu then appears, allowing players to choose the recipes they wish to prepare on the spot.

Moving your screen to the edges while choosing a recipe determines the quantity produced. Crafting more increases the Cooking Experience points awarded to players, allowing them to advance their Trading Skill level and discover new recipes.

To create a variety of Tier 1 recipes using common items (similar to rations), and then progressively build upon those into Tier 2, 3, and so forth, encourage players to craft as much as possible. As they produce more, their level will advance at a faster rate. However, keep in mind that a substantial amount of resources will be required for this process.

How To Level Up Cooking Faster In New World: Aeternum

To boost your Cooking Profession in New World: Aeternum, you’ll need to prepare numerous dishes and discover new recipes. Here are some helpful tips and strategies to help you surpass the skill caps between Levels 1 and 3, and progress your Profession quicker:

  • Establish a Decent Farming Route and gather lots of materials before beginning to craft. Several farming routes are good for Tier 1 to 3 materials, we will cover those in some video footage below.
  • Don’t leave a single box unchecked. Loot boxes and chests often contain crafting materials. Cooking materials are among those but drop particularly from Provision Crates and Reserves.
  • If money is not a problem, players can also buy ingredients from other players from the Trading Post.
  • Proficiency Boost potions can help players gather even more materials to craft better and more recipes, thus leveling faster.

Crates serve as useful storage spaces for various essentials such as Salt, Milk, Rye, Rice, among others. Farms are ideal for procuring fresh produce like fruits, vegetables, and more. Mills usually supply flour and other baking materials needed for bread. Additionally, pirate hideouts or caves in general may contain a wealth of ingredient and material crates, making them worth exploring for such items.

Step 1: Establishing A Profitable Farming Route

In the game, there are numerous effective paths for farming, but when it comes to progressing from level 1 to 17, here’s the initial steps players should take to become masterful cooks:

  • Look for Herbs and Game near the coasts of Monarch’s Bluff and Windsward.
  • Hunt Turkeys, Rabbits, and Boars for meat, and loot Turkey nests for eggs.
  • Collect Berries and Wild Vegetables from Bushes. (Berries can be Red, Orange, or Purple, while Wild Vegetables like Gourds grow near the floor).
  • Visit caves and Pirate coves to gather extra materials.
  • Visit farms to get produce.
  • Harvest Nuts from Fallen Branches Near Mountainsides to make oil out of them.

Step 2: Start Cooking Until You Hit Tier 3

As a passionate foodie in this virtual world, I eagerly await the moment when I’ve amassed sufficient ingredients for my culinary adventure. First up, I’ll be whipping up approximately 50 Tier 1 Recipes. These delightful dishes will grant me the experience points needed to ascend to the next level, Tier 2. Once there, I’ll continue my journey by concocting around 100 Tier 2 Recipes. This culinary odyssey will not only expand my repertoire but also propel me towards the tantalizing prospect of Tier 3!

As a passionate cook, I’ve come to realize that it’s not just about whipping up dishes, but also about crafting essential ingredients. For instance, I can make pasta from flour and eggs, or create my own spices using herbs. These Compound Materials, as I like to call them, are vital for progress in cooking. Additionally, crafting sausages and other meat derivatives, or cheese and other milk products, is an integral part of mastering this Trade Skill.

For recipes at levels 3 to 5 in Cooking, you’ll find them quite difficult and will necessitate intermediate ingredients. You can start crafting these materials from level 20/50 of your Cooking skill. Therefore, it’s essential for players to consistently gather materials, particularly salt, sugar, and herbs to make spices, as this is when the real excitement in cooking begins.

As they reach an intermediate level 3 (65) in cooking, players will find it challenging to progress further due to the increased demand for materials. They now face a dilemma: either raid enemy settlements to gather additional resources or cultivate their secondary skill, fishing, which we’ll delve into later.

Best Secondary Trade Skills To Level Up With Cooking

To maximize Cooking abilities, players should focus on mastering three key Trade Skills: Fishing, Skinning, and Harvesting. As players collect resources like meat and berries, their skills in Skinning and Harvesting will improve naturally. However, fishing is a more refined skill that demands some practice.

At that location, you’ll find two prime fishing spots. Here’s why it’s beneficial for anglers to hone their fishing abilities:

  • It provides fish which can be harvested for meat and Oil, two important cooking ingredients.
  • It has a chance to yield treasure chests that contain provisions, mats, jewels, and Gold Coins.

After both Hotspots run dry, it’s worth staying put because you can gather a wealth of materials from the nearby Pirate Coven too. Up north, there are abundant opportunities for hunting game like Turkey, Rabbit, or Lynx in the hills. Moreover, in Amrine Temple (located near the northern hills), you can find a bounty of wild vegetables, herbs, and berries to collect as well.

An alternative farming location you might consider is the Monarch’s Bluff Shores – Hurtfang Hole zone (featured in one of the early videos). This area offers an abundance of Turkeys, Boars, Herbs, and Berries for players to gather. Remember to skin every animal you come across, as their meat is essential for cooking recipes.
